dont know if this will serve the purpose that I intend. Which is a place to discuss merits of various QBs, different draft classes of QBs, Qbs traded, or in FA.

But, QBing in the NFL is a dicey proposition. There is a paucity of talent. Usually there at least 8-10 POOR Qbs that are starting.

This year we have 2 vet Qbs of quality who have entirely shat themselves. Ryan and Wilson.
We have a Mr Irrelevant going for a division title. Lamar apparently on downcurve. Geno playing above average.

We have Herbert and Murray who play consistently above average, sometimes great, less often poor but whose teams are stuggling.

You get it. Will this stick? No idea...

Geno was never a bad QB, he was a great QB blessed with the brain of a pigeon.

Pairing him with an OC that doesn’t overthink the game was always going to get results.

    an interesting POV...

could be ...a rungame, a GOOD OL, two above averegae WRs (Lockett and Dk)

will he be the next rich Gannon? thatd be surprising.

Oh yeah, Mac Jones with a huge come down year after a suprising rookie campaign.

One of my best friends is a Pats fan — they have done Jones no favors. Their OL is atrocious and you have two monkeys on the offensive side of the ball in Patricia and judge

Pats fans are at the point where they’re done with Mac already. he has happy feet in the pocket already

I don’t understand how Geno can be a candidate for comeback player of the year, because what did he come back from… sucking? It should be reserved for people who actually come back from something, Iike Barkley or whomever. You can’t come back from sucking lol.

They can give it to someone for recovering from poor performance but as you said he's always been bad so one anomalous season shouldn't make him eligible.

The last few weeks have him coming back down to average performance which should drop him down a few notches. Lost 5 out of the last 6, completion pct in his last 3 games had 2 lowest of the year and the other still below his average for the year, and had the 2nd and 3rd lowest scoring games of the year the last 2 weeks.

    good point.
a once starter, relegated to bench, comes back as starter and...

    does that qualify?
is ONLY from injury? again..Bark came back LAST year. again..whats thecirteria.

Coming back performance wise is eligible but I would think you would have to previously have a top season rather than season after season of mediocre and worse production.

A question: do you think that the NFL has become too QB friendly? The fact is there are only ever about 10 or so QBs capable of performing at a high level on a consistent basis because the position is near impossible to play - as a result the same teams with franchise QBs are in the playoffs year after year and have something to build around whereas the rest of the teams are just sort of treading water hoping to somehow land a franchise QB of their own via the draft. Sure a team might occassionally have a good run but it never lasts.

The salary cap and this idea of parity loses much of its value and impact because really the league is split into two camps - those with a good QB and those without and all the salary cap changes and draft picks in the world don't have any impact on that. Would it be better to introduce rule changes that reduce the impact of the QB? Hard to think of another team sport where pretty much everything depends on one position to such an extreme extent.

Of course, in the very unlikely event that the Jets ever manage to land a good QB then I will reverse this position.

I remember when we got Geno in the second round thinking it had the potential to be the steal of the draft

That makes two of us. I’ve still got the Sports Illustrated Draft supplement where he is the consensus No. 1 pick.

Geno also made a wild change that quarterbacks can usually never fix as I thoroughly believe they’re born with it - he’s developed an understand of the pocket and where rushers are.
