Lets face it the full blame for the offense failure has to fall squarely on Shotty. There have been those who have defended him in the past and even I have had thoughts of how do you get rid of a guy who took you to two AFC Championship games. But be honest he got there solely on the heels of the defense and a solid running game. The problem now is he has no imagination and the offense is too predictable.

They know they have an obvious weakness, in the oline, and there are things that can be done to mask that but he calls everything that exploits it. Who else would continue to run between the tackles with no lead blocker into a second string o line? Shotty. Who else continues to have Sanchez stay in the pocket while under immense pressure? Shotty. They should have been moving Sanchez around and moving the pocket. And if I see one more WR screen I will puke!! Why do we have a fullback on the roster??

Rex and Woody have to make a change as now it is starting to unwravel in the locker room with comments from players. It is a cancer that will continue to spread. Rex has to put his ego aside.

Now there are still other problems like our run defense but when your d spends 3/4 of the game on the field what do you expect? Hey at least we may have found a pass rusher in Mabin.....

Sanchez didn't pay the $75 fee for OLine protection.

i would say a large part of it falls on Callahan, seeing as the OLine is the weakest part of our offense right now.

then schotty, as its his gameplan that needs to find ways to mask that weakness.

and i know this is a rotted and decomposing horse i'm wailing on here, but the blame falls squarely on Rex. shit rolls uphill.

Frankly, I see a depleted O-line as the major problem, pure & simple. Getting Mangold back, whenever, fixes that a bit but certainly not in it's entirety. Schotty is what he is and he calls what he calls but getting rid of him now, for whomever, is probably a very bad idea, it will create even more chaos. Finally players commenting on the play calling is nuts, it reflects a lack of discipline and frankly that falls on the head coach, who ALLOWS that environment to exist. Calling out your coaches this early in the season is not the same thing as talking trash about other teams. All of this, especially the running of player mouths is a real bad sign for any team.

You can't blame Callahan for who is on the roster. He's dealing with the hand dealt to him. It seems everyone except the Jets front office knew O-line was an area of major concern this past off-season "BEFORE" Woody retired. His retirement should have scaled the alarm to defcon 4 and it didn't. There were names out there to be signed. Yes they lost their versatile back up but they are the ones to keep the turnstile instead of getting solid help.

The O line woes have nothing to do with Shotty calling a 5 yd crossing pattern to Keller on 3rd and 9. This is the Baltimore F'n Ravens, you don't get a 5 yd catch and run on 3rd and 9!! They can tackle and with Shotty refusing to stretch the field with long pass attempts it was clear they were in dink and dunk mode. You can't do that against a D as good as the Ravens.

The O-line wasn't the problem with players coming off the edge untouched, its Shotty not calling plays that allow the proper options for audibles.

The poor performance is on Shotty and Sanchez, who looks more and more like he's NOT a franchise QB.

Rex takes the blame for not being a "HEAD" coach. He needs to give instructions and hold Shotty reponsible. He can't just worry about the D. This isn't Buddy Ryan days.

Tanny takes the bullet for paying a Sh*tload of money to Brick and Mangold and then patching the rest of the line. You need a SOLID line across and solid depth. Bite the bullet on the turnstile and get a real OL in and soon.

That Ed Reed play was exactly like the two plays against the colts in 2009

where Dwight Freeney came in untouched.

All three plays were a quick slant that didn't work

Schotty said he would get rid of those plays and he didn't.

I think this truly highlights the problem with Schotty.

fact of the matter is, this team has had to do a little rebuilding on the fly as both oline and dlines were aging and needed an infusion of youth.

jets accomplished that for the dline, but because of trading draft choices for moves up, they didn't have enough for the oline!

then include busts like ducasse and the #6 overall and the jets are paying for the mistakes.

this is still a competitive team but superbowl opportunities are behind us at the moment while we rebuild a bit until 2012 or 2013.

if you haven't noticed by now, it's not happening this year.

How do you line up with 3 wide, Keller, and a single back...AND THEN PUT SANCHEZ UNDER CENTER?

From the Shotgun, He'd have seen Ed Reed, and taken a sack at best.

Anyone else absolutely hate it when schotty calls those lateral dump passes when sanchez isn't getting time in the pocket. I've never seen them work once.

what would have been intelligent to do as an OC last night:

as Hobbes stated- SHOTGUN! every play! that xtra second to read... try and get 1 on 1 and throw deep.. make them change!
    HB/TE screens

TB and bellichick on that special while watching tape of Ravens ..every play started with "wheres ed reed"
No intelligent changes made from 1st to 4th quarter.....scary to me ;shame on schotty

I see Sanchez as part of the problem but his OC certainly isn't doing him any favors. The other thing is that Sanchez has only had the opportunity to work under one OC. Schotty has worked with 3 different starting QB's and the Jets have never really had a potent Offense during his tenure.

Collinsworth said it best last night. (can't believe i'm saying that)

The best way to neutralize an aggressive defense is to spread them out and make them play their nickel and dime packages.

we didn't do that till the game was already out of hand and we had practically given up at that point.

like i said in another thread, most people bash the OC regardless of the fanbase and a lot of the times it's unjustified, but when you look at the whole body of work for Schotty, he's inconsistent at best. and when he gameplans poorly, it results in a complete offensive implosion

    I've got an idea.

Instead of posting in the Schotty thread, make a new one that says the exact same thing!

I agree, and I wanted to see the shotgun but the few times they tried it looked like the snap was off. I think part of them not going shotgun more was the center.

a man that plays center for his LIVELYHOOD ( its all he does) and he cant snap a football from a shotgun position. WOW .... maybe now that hes a starter Rex and Schotty could take 10 minutes a day and practice this skill

Shotty is not to blame at all!!! His play calling has been good but Greene can't run the ball and our OL can't protect Sanchez... Blaming Shotty is ridiculas and a excuse to poor play by our team on the field.

Greene has been the largest disappointment imo it seems like he has lost the fire in his belly... He is our tin man
