"He is a declining player that cannot protect very well,"

This is exactly what Pittsburgh said when they let him sign with us. We saw the results and now he's a few years older. Thanks for helping bring along D'Brick and Mangold but it was time for him to leave.

Faneca filled a need for us and was a great pickup at the time. But now, he's done and I'm glad we're rid of him. You've got to appreciate Mr T for both Faneca and TJ's aquisitions and how well they worked. Favre... not so much.

Farve worked, he just got hurt and our idiot coaching staff lied about it and we all paid the price.

Faneca was a great pickup from the standpoint that his professionalism rubbed off on what's supposed to be the foundation of our o-line (D'Brick, Mangold) for the next ten years.

The one drawback to the signing was the money, and the fact that we knew he'd never see the end of the contract and it was expected that there'd be some dead money when the Jets made the decision to cut him. The fact that he was cut without ANY dead money and people complained thinking it would somehow ruin our season is laughable.

    This.

And Faneca, the only thing I regret is that we're paying him 5 freaking million dollars this year and he's not playing... Just wish we could have him in reserve or in running plays for that amount of money we're paying into thin air.

I don't think it's a good idea swapping linemen every few downs.

it's best when the dead money is in a cap-less year.

yeah we knew his pass blocking went to hell. The only thing he did well was pull around Mangold and get to the 2nd level on run plays.

The FO knew what they were doing.

This is nothing new. Faneca's pass protect had been suspect from the moment he arrived in New York, but his superior run blocking made him an asset. Now at 33 with a huge salary, it was the ideal time to cut ties with him.

The Cards will have to deal with his pass protect but have a great pulling guard on their line.

Yeah a ton of guys make the pro bowl late in their careers on reputation alone, especially offensive linemen.

And yeah really enough with the TJ obsession. I love the guy he's a class act and what he did for our locker room last year was phenomenal but he was absolutely gassed by week 16.

LT is the screen-game we never had last year and the change of pace back.

    Shonn is the future.
