Watching the National Championship and right now Warmack is absolutely owning ND's D-Line and Lacy is looking like a #1 RB, not THE #1 RB, but he could be our workhorse
And to run we need to block. Chance Warmack or Matt Slauson? Barrett Jones is good money at a number of positions as well. Could even get huge roadgrader DJ Fluker in the 3rd (who admittedly still needs work) eventually for RT. Unfortunately Lacy probably improved his stock and won't be around for long. I'd love to grab as many as those four as I could - starting with Warmack.
Lacy and Warmack were two guys I was not as high on as everyone else. That being said, they both played like absolute studs tonight (granted, everyone was.) Especially Warmack. I watched him most plays and damn was he dominant. I think it was easily his best game of the season. Lacy was giving me flashbacks to T-Rich. Back to earth, I still only want either guy in a reasonable situation. Warmack is a guy who we should be looking at if we don't see a star player left at #9 and we trade back 4-8 spots. Somebody will trade up, because somebody good will have dropped. I really loved what I saw from Warmack tonight though. Changed my perspective of him a lot. As usual no one could get off his blocks, but finally I saw him really consistently moving people. He looked big, athletic and ruthless tonight. Lacy in the third seems like pretty good value to me. Unless we pick up a later second rounder he wouldn't even enter my mind in the second. #39 is too high for him still.
If he's still available that high, which I doubt, that'd be amazing value. He has great vision, is fast, and has the ability to make defensive players look blind.
if players like Te'o and Jones are gone at 9, I have no problem with taking Chance Warmack. you guys see him pancake Louis Nix with one arm? unreal.
Man, I envy Alabama fans, it must feel nice. lol Great program lead by a great college coach. I think there are going to be some great players coming out of Alabama in this draft. I think Warmack will be the best player coming out of Alabama, hands down, even though Milliner will probably go ahead of him based on position and need. Honestly I think Alabama easily has 6 players that will be picked in the first two rounds which is impressive. I would rank them in this order: Chance Warmack - G Dee Milliner - CB Barret Jones - G/C/T Jesse Williams - DT D.J. Fluker - RT Eddie Lacey - RB (^I think they all go in the first two rounds^) Nico Johnson - LB Robert Lester - S Michael Williams - TE The only thing I question (yes, it's a little unfair), but I don't really know how good Lacy is because he has such a great line to run behind. It's unfair, but I question how much success he would have behind a lesser line. I think the kid will be good but I'm way more impressed with Bama's line then I am Lacy.
Trent Richardson ran behind the same line and picked #3 overall. I'd pick Lacy #39 overall and be okay with it
Your grossly over valuing Lacy. He is a good powerful runner, but does not have the burst in the hole or the vision that Richardson does. Your looking at a guy that is much closer to Shon Greene than Trent Richardson in talent.
no I'm not, Lacy is going to be a very good RB in the NFL and if we goes to a team with a power running offense then he'll succeed. Lacy is faster, stronger, quicker and has better version than Shonn Greene
Shonn Greene looked very good behind Iowa's impressive line in college too. Lacy will most likely be productive in the NFL, but to compare him to Trich is borderline silly. Lacy's productivity was more in part to Bama's line than it was his actual skills as a runner. IMO I also thought Bama's line was even better this year than last years line. Jones played very well at center, even better than vlachos did at his natural position, and Jones was hurt for most of the year. Steen has played much better this year than he did last year, you could still tell he was the weak link on that line but he did play better. IMO Cyrus Kouandjio has been fantastic for them at LT, and he is a first year starter for them. I'm willing to bet half the offensive running yards in a game came from the left side because of how strong that left side was this year. I don't know man, lot of variables there with Lacy. Lol
I like Lacy and said so months ago, but he is a good prospect, not a great one. He is not near Trent Richardson by any means. He put p some good numbers behind the best oline in football, but this was not a great season for him. He has decent vision and bust through the hole, not near elite level on either trait. He runs hard and is difficult to bring down and those are his strongest attributes. I think he'll have a good career in the NFL, but there are many backs in this draft that are as talented.
Yes Sir. Does anyone else Remember 2009? This team needs stud O-linemen more than a new RB. If you build it they will come........
Alabama is so good that LB Nico Johnson doesnt play full time for them. Meanwhile, the guy could be drafted as high as 3rd round.
A good point but at the same time... A good rb can make up for your lack of O-linemen. It goes both ways.
