How the hell is Pudge beating Posada??? Code: Name Team G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS Jorge Posada NYY 63 223 40 77 22 0 9 43 23 43 1 0 .345 .404 .565 .969 Iv?n Rodr?guez DET 57 243 30 71 18 1 7 39 4 35 0 2 .292 .304 .461 .765
dunno. I've actually been voting Cabrera at short, but I vote Posada at C. In the NL, the only Met I'm voting for is Reyes.
Where did I say that? I know Posada is having a better year, but it doesn't change the fact that Yankee fans are slacking on the vote
but if you really want to know why, it's because certain guys get automatic votes from a lot of fans. Remember Cal Ripken? There are so many more like him. Some guys will always get the votes. Pudge gets voted as an All Star and a Gold Glover basically every year. If he was batting .245 with 7 homers on the year, I bet he'd still be leading. And there are some guys who never get votes, usually because of the team they play on. Magglio Ordonez has been snubbed by the fans so many times. There are a few Maggs's every year. I actually spent like a half an hour last night voting.
And last year Mauer was in a similar situation but was 4th, he didn't have a big fan base in Minny, it just surprises me that in the biggest market that for a Yankee that actually deserves to be in that he isn't getting voted in, ironic isn't it
yeah, I was voting like crazy for Mauer last year, but couldn't make a dent. He was arguably the biggest snub from the starting lineup. for anyone curious to see the AL voting: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070619&content_id=2035977&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb
Is it just me or is the all-star line-up always? C I-rod 1B Ortiz 2B flavor of the year SS Jeter 3B A-rod OF Vlad OF Manny OF Ichiro
basically, yeah. Pudgy got the untouchable label years ago, Jeter, A-Rod, Manny, Ortiz, and Jeter play for the Yankees and Red Sox, and Ichiro is hugely popular in Japan. Vlad is just awesome. The question is why he never has vote problems and Magglio does. Oh well.
definitely. My AL ballot has been going Posada, Morneau#, Polanco, Cabrera, Lowell*, Magglio, Vlad, Hunter^ *- A-Rod deserves it, but when a player has such a huge lead over everyone else, I almost never vote for them. ^- Could go with several different players here. #- If Youkilis were on the ballot, I'd vote for him instead. Write-ins are pointless unless there is an organized campaign.
when I was voting last night, I considered posting on the forums to ask people to vote, because several deserving guys are trailing. The reason I didn't was because of past experience. Posting here would just make things worse, because most of the people ignore who's deserving and just vote all Mets or all Yankees or whatever. That's the response I got in past years. Anyway, online voting ends 6/28. Most of the ballpark voting is finished already.
I never have a problem with the fan voting for the simple fact that the game is for the fans and that's who the fans want to see. The players and managers selections are where any "mistakes" should be corrected, and that's where I have problems. I also hate the rule that every team needs a player selected.
If they expand the roster 4 players, I have no problem with that... B.J. Upton....He deserves to be there at 2nd...
I don't mind it either if it didn't have the WS home field advantage on the line (another Selig abomination )
You can't have it both ways. Either its an exhibition and its the fans game or it matters and a real selection process is instituted.
