Ainge Absent From Voluntary Workouts Posted by Mike Florio on April 13, 2009, 10:45 p.m. As the New York Jets consider in-house options to become the first quarterback of the post-Favre era, one of the team’s current quarterbacks reportedly hasn’t been taking advantage of his opportunity for some playing time. According to the Journal News, second-year signal-caller Erik Ainge, a 2008 fifth-round draft pick from Tennessee, has been skipping out on the voluntary workouts. On one hand, the workouts are voluntary. On the other hand, if the guy is serious about perfecting his craft — and competing for a starting job — he’ll be volunteering to be present for morning workouts followed by positional meetings. Ainge’s rookie season was marred by a four-game suspension for violation of the policy regarding anabolic steroids and related substances. He reportedly tested positive for a diuretic, a substance that generally is prohibited because it can mask the presence of steroids in a player’s system.
heh, well this just means he goes from a .1% to a .00001% chance of being our starting QB next season....
This guys a bum. He has no respect for us or the nfl, He isn't even in the same conversation with Clemens and Rattliff and that aint saying all that much. Douche.
Maybe that's why he si skipping invols.... he is practicing for his new gig, filling water bottles for Uncle Danny's Basketball team.
What a jackass. He must know he wont be a jet for long but maybe you think about what other teams might think of you. We need to loose this guy asap
Complete idiot, not only does this kind of thing stop us from even giving him a 2nd look when we bring a new QB in, other teams will be thinking, does this guy have any commitment. Moron.
odd. I can't see him holding out for anything so possibly there is a more personal reason to why he is not there.
What leverage could he possibly have to hold out with? Didn't this clown say something about scratching and clawing and taking advantage of every opportunity that he gets just like 3 weeks ago. Our QB situation was questionable enough as it was without Ainge starting any shenanigans.
I agree...probably they told him they don't count on him and they will bring a new 3rd string QB. It would make sense...
Maybe he has a perfectly good reason not to be there? People do have lives that sometimes come before their professional commitments.
227: He is third on our depth chart!!! What possible reason could he have for not going to the voluntary workouts. Hey maybe we have met nobody....
