Agent says Ricky Williams to apply for NFL reinstatement Harvey Fialkov South Florida Sun-Sentinel Posted January 4 2007 Suspended running back Ricky Williams is anxious to return to the Dolphins no matter who the coach is, according to his agent Leigh Steinberg. Steinberg said that Williams, who played an injury-plagued season for the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL, has been passing all his drug tests and intends to apply for reinstatement into the league in April. Steinberg said that Williams and Nick Saban, who left the Dolphins to coach Alabama Wednesday, had formed a special bond. "From the beginning Nick showed real concern and support for Ricky, so Ricky is saddened to know he won't be coaching him,'' Steinberg said. "But happy, knowing that Nick prefers college football. "Ricky is back teaching yoga [in Northern California] and physically and emotionally ready, and looking forward to applying in April and play for the Dolphins. We're sure that [owner H. Wayne Huizenga] will hire an outstanding replacement." Williams is serving a one-year suspension for violating the NFL substance-abuse policy.
