    Considering everything that has occurred:
    -Mangini being fired
    -Ryan taking over
    -Schottenheimer staying.

I think the 2009 Jets would actually be more appealing to Favre for several reasons. I also think he would play better in 2009 than 2008 and would have a better defense to support him. One month ago I was a definite NO for Favre coming back, I am sure he was too. Actually, even 2 days ago I was a NO on Favre.

Now I am a YES. He gives the Jets the best chance to win this year. And if the defense is solid, the Jets could actually be unstoppable.

So, after a month to think and all that has just occurred: YES or NO on Favre?

Brett Favre, unlike wine, doesn't get better with age.

    Positives:
-He would have a full training camp.
-He already has one year under his belt.
-He will be asked to do less (more run oriented offense)
-He needs to redeem his horrible 2008 finish.
-A second year with Favre makes my $160 in jerseys not as bad as if he would retire. (still bad)

    Negatives:
-Clemens or Ratliff will get no experience
    -He costs $13 million
-He will still chuck it up for random INT's. (its what he does)
-He might do another pre-game speech.

I wouldn't mind having him back at all. I'll always be a Brett Favre fan.

In your mind, if you are Favre I think that things in New York look much better right now. The offense is staying intact. Schotty is staying, as far as I know, Favre likes him. Favre doesn't like Mangini, he is gone. Favre knows he will likely have a stronger defense to work with him too next season. He has to like that. If he does indeed retire, it will be due to the fact that he is done. The Jets are a great situation to be in if you were Favre. Atleast I think so.

regardless of the question at hand...the alternatives aren't appealing. I don't think Sanchez or Stafford with drop to us at #17....Clemens/Ratty are unproven....there's basically NOTHING available in FA.

I believe the Jets would be better off with Favre playing one more year...and then going after McCoy, Bradford, or even Tebow in the 2010 draft.

WSW is right too....at this point, Favre's cap number is atrocious....but i trust Tanny would work his "cap guru voodoo" and figure it out.

Those who choose no should explain why. Favre still gives the Jets the best chance to win out of anyone on the current roster or FA.

I'm going to vote no - simply for salary cap reasons, and the fact that I think we have something on the roster already in Brett Ratliff.

I have had the same avatar since the day after the game it comes from. Never for a second did I not want Brett Favre back next year.

I voted yes, although I could honestly go the other way in a few days. This is also under the condition that Tanny can figure out a good way to lower Favre's cap number at least a decent amount. I don't like the cap hit, the accusations of some of his teammates of being a loner, and the obvious mishaps on the field.

However, if Shotty makes this a run-first offense and limits Favre (as he did in the stetch where we looked like the best team in the league), than I don't think that there's a better option out there. The only FA that somewhat appeals to me as vet competition for Ratty, Ainge, and Clemens is Leftwich, and even then I wouldn't be entirely comfortable going in. Sanchez and Stafford are likely gone by our pick, so the draft's not an option. If we lower Favre's cap implications, than I'm in.

Ryan also seems like he's right up Favre's alley, at least from a personality POV. I think they'll at least hit it off.

I picked no..... Just cause Ryan's on record saying were gonna pound the rock, that not what Favre does... bottom line. I'd prefer for him to retire, save the team a shit ton of money, and get a veteran qb who doesnt make mistakes i.e Garcia. He'll be alot cheaper then Favre, and will play qb the way this team is gonna be designed. Then go crazy next year with the thick amount of qb talent coming out of the draft next season. It the best way to win now and stay consistent

No matter what, I would love to see Favre back. He's one of the best ever, and I feel proud to be able to watch him play in green and white. I want to see him at least one more time. Note the "at least," because I think we're going to win with him and I don't think he will be finished, even after this season. Think Testaverde :D

I absolutely want him back. Bring in a rookie wr from the first 3 rounds that can stretch the field more and see what happens when Favre has better receivers and is healthy.

He played injured and you have to give him credit for that.

Who is this great talent that is coming out next year? Tebow is not a NFL QB & McCoy they said would have been a 4th round pick this year.

I also look at the free agents this year there are not alot of good guys out there. The few really good guys out there (Suggs, Lewis) will be locked up by the Ravens who are these great free agents we are going to sign with the money that Favre would free up?
