    Hello all,

Long time UK fan here (29 years and counting), just wondering if anyone can give me any tips on going to see Jets / Giants preseason game in August:

    Best place to get tickets?
Best place to sit in the new stadium?
What time to arrive, as I'd like to experience the tailgate first?
Will I be ok bringing a camera?
Travel from Harlem (where we'll be staying) ?
Any other tips from you lucky guys that get to go every home game?

    Any advice much appreciated.

    Cheers

    Marty

Because my wife stayed there once before and loved it, and because we got a great deal on an apartment for a week.

How is it for kids? I'm thinking of bringing my three young kids for their first game, ages 11, 9, and 7.

I've never been, but I've been to several NFL games at multiple parks, and I've found that there are tickets available that are in a club-level. Not luxury box, but there's this carpeted part with a food court and a high-end buffet, that kind of thing. Usually pretty family friendly and easy to take the kids to the bathroom, stuff like that.

Give me the 411 -- is it doable?

I'd probably be taking the bus from Manhattan with the family.

    welcome to the madhouse!!

Okay , I would take the train from Penn to the game, cheap and safe. drops you bang at the stadium in 30 mins

Seats wise ...for your first visit splash out and try the 2nd tier front..amazing views. i always use Stubhub...its a bit pricey but if you wait til near game you can get a good deal

Stay away from a guy called Scotland Jet....guy is a bit weird...

Oh and enjoy it..its a great place to be ...especially when you beat the pats!!

Definitely doable. The stadium atmosphere definitely isn't as coarse and vulgar as it used to be years ago. Definitely remember being in the upper deck as a kid thinking where the fuck did you bring me dad? I'm quite sure if I were a kid on the lower level now I would not be thinking that...something more like "holy shit this is awesome."

That said yeah they've got a whole special section inside the 20's or whatever on the first tier that is all "club" seating. Gives you access to "coaches club" lounge at halftime, VIP, the whole nine:

How much does the train cost? I've heard it was a decent option too, just haven't taken it myself yet.

Taking the train/bus will cost you five dollars each way.

hope you have a good time - I keep half planning to go and was looking at this season but as my only mate that follows the NFL just spent all his cash on a family holiday to Florida he wont be able to get clearance to go and I dont fancy going solo, so it will have to wait a while yet :(

    Best place to get tickets?
    Stubhub.com or seatgeek.com

I've already started checking prices to that game (Although preseason games are usually really shitty, me and a group of friends want to go just to have fun)

Best place to sit in the new stadium?
I prefer the lower end of the stadium (RIGHT NOW the prices are really cheap compared to reg season games)

What time to arrive, as I'd like to experience the tailgate first?
    2 hrs should be enough.

Will I be ok bringing a camera?
Yes as long as it's not one of those really big press cameras they won't bother you
You can't bring any liquids to the stadium though.

Travel from Harlem (where we'll be staying) ?

    Take the 1, 2 or 3 to 34th st... That's Penn station
when you're at Penn look for nj transit and buy a ticket to Meadowlands stadium ...

-You take the train it drops you off in Secaucus if it's a game day more than likely you'll see more folks wearing our Jersey's or Giants Jersey so I'd suggest you follow them upstairs and then I believe it's platform H that you take the train which leaves you right in front of the stadium

Any other tips from you lucky guys that get to go every home game?
Have fun I suggest don't buy too much food at the stadium. They rip you off in prices, you could wait to get out and have something to eat with a decent budget.

    Hope it helps.

Good stuff gata. You are allowed to bring in 1 plastic water bottle with cap removed.

OH .... BTW at seatgeek you get to see the view of the field from each section. So if you don't buy the tickets there you can always check how the field looks.

Best place to get tickets? If you have access to the internet, you can get tickets cheap on Stubhub the day of the game. If that won't work because of your UK address/credit card, you can probably do the last minute pickup from Stubhub. At least 50% off would be my expectation.

Best place to sit in the new stadium? UD seats will be practically free on SH if budget is important. If your budget is a little better, you should be able to get sideline/Mezz club seats for around $100 (or better).

What time to arrive, as I'd like to experience the tailgate first?

Will I be ok bringing a camera? Yes, but there is a limit on the size of the lens your camera may have. Any compact camera should be fine.

Travel from Harlem (where we'll be staying)? If I had 2 or more people I would splurge for a "black" car to the game.

Any other tips from you lucky guys that get to go every home game? I bring a compact radio (old school transistor style) and listen to the broadcast during the game.

Yes, and if the cap is not removed, the Stadium Security Nazis will remove it from the bottle for you and throw it TF away... "No closed bottles, Sir!" So, you bring an extra cap with you from another bottle you already threw away and keep it in your pocket, sight unseen.

After the Security Nazi takes the cap off and throws it away, you thank him, you walk in, and you put your other cap on.

Yeah, I know. Why bother explaining this. Well, it pisses me off, that's why. And I enjoy fucking with the Security Nazis.
