Not sure if anyone posted this, but when I heard him say he'd vote for Woodson for Defensive Player of the Year over Revis, I thought, "what a dick!"
It's his prerogative. Granted, I've seen Woodson play once, and I sincerely doubt he's nearly as good as Our Lord and Savior, but if Schein has seen enough of Woodson to truly believe that he's the best defensive player, and not just doing this to be contrarian, well, I have no problem with that. There were people who didn't vote for Hank Aaron into the Hall of Fame, anyone voting for someone other than Revis makes perfect sense compared to that.
Well Peter King is voting for Revis, so it's 1-1, ha. When does this award get announced, last year Harrison on the Steelers was announced the winner onf January 4th, figured it would be right about the same time.
Woodson is a legitimate defensive MVP candidate. He is NOT a shutdown corner like Revis, but he is a playmaker. Woodson is likely to get more votes than Revis. If Revis had more INTs, he would probably win. EDIT - Typo.....meant to say that Woodson is NOT a shutdown corner
Do you have a larger version of your avatar? Looks pretty awesome. EDIT: Never mind, saw the other thread.
Yeah, he sounds like one of those annoying DJ's on local radio with the over-affected voice. I guess he feels the need to grunt and over-pronounce every word.
He's not a shutdown corner like Revis, Revis is a way better cover corner than Woodson is. Anyone who compares them will have to weigh Woodson's higher interception/sack numbers against Revis' superior coverage/passes defended. It's going to come down to what the individual voter thinks is more important. IMHO Revis is the better player.
Dude, he's not that good at coverage. He has higher numbers by playing the lions twice, the crappy nfc, and matt leinart. He did not face anywhere the talent that Revis has faced.
He is used differently than Revis. He plays at the line for blitzes and to stuff the run. Revis is too good a cover corner for the Jets to use him in that way. There is not a doubt in my mind that if the Jets blitzed Revis, he can be every bit as good as Woodson in the sack dept, if not better. That being said.... Why waste the top cover guy in the NFL? Ryan himself said that would be really stupid.
woodson and revis though playing the same position are completely different kind of player. Woodson is all about the huge impact plays. He has the most interceptions including i think 3 pick 6. He has a couple sacks more tackles and a couple fumbles too I believe. Hes not used in man coverage like Revis is. Revis is an impact player who impacts plays by not having to make a play if that makes sense. When it comes to voting people look at stats because they dont get to watch every player as much as we have watched Revis. Revis deserves DPOY but I dont think he gets it but I hope im wrong. And yea this thread was made earlier.
I think it should be Revis, but as a Jets fan I realize that we're in a unique position to appreciate all of his intangibles. I wouldn't be surprised to see non-Jets fans give Woodson the edge based solely on numbers since they probably haven't had the benefit of watching Revis' performances all season. Regardless of who wins DPOY, I'm just glad that Revis is on our side. All praise due.
most teams cover the other team's star receiver with two players, a db and a safety over top. revis does this alone, which frees up rhodes to do whatever. it's like getting a 12th player on defense
