A report today noted that Breece Hall was ahead of his recovery schedule and expected to be ready for training camp. However, recent history of ACL tears shows that stud running backs like Dalvin Cook and Saquon Barkley have taken a full year to get back to their former strength. Is the trio of Knight, Carter and Johnson enough to hold the fort until Hall is back to speed? They'll need every dime to shore up the O-Line, re-sign Quinnen Williams and pay a starting Quarterback. Maybe they resign James Robinson or do they take a flyer on promising, young free agent running backs like D'onta Foreman or D'Ernest Johnson?
I said this before. Breece has to find out if that leg can take a hit. The doubt will always be there until it actually happens. I would say a year is about right. Knowing the Jets, they'll give Breece 15 carries and 10 passing plays per game just to try and generate some offense.
Yeah he’s not going to be right until year two. Barkley’s trajectory seems correct. There’s some mid-round guys I like but I think we have bigger needs than to draft an insurance runningback. I like D’Ernest Johnson as a low-cost signing. He ran well when Hunt and Chubb were out. His next team will also be his last shot given his age so he’ll be running hard.
James Robinson will be on year two of his recovery and we own his rights. Spent a 6th round pick on him already. No need to sped more picks.
That was my thought too. Robinson was productive prior to his injury and with a down year recovering from surgery he is still young and will probably be on the upswing next season.
