so much for the deal close to done stuff. Could be a smokescreen. I will remain a friendly optimist as i always am.

Broncos interested in deal for Abraham BY KEN BERGER STAFF WRITER March 10, 2006 With labor peace and a $102- million salary cap sure to inject some energy into the free-agency and trading period that begin tonight at midnight, the Jets might be closing in on perhaps the biggest transaction of coach Eric Mangini's brief reign. Several teams remain interested in trading for defensive end John Abraham, and a person with knowledge of the situation said yesterday that the Broncos have been the most aggressive team pursuing the man who pursues quarterbacks as well as anyone in the NFL. The Falcons also are evaluating their options about a trade for Abraham, who probably will command a first-round pick in next month's draft. The Falcons have the 15th pick, while the Broncos have the 22nd and 29th. Abraham, tagged as the Jets' franchise player, will count $8.3 million on the salary cap this season if he remains without a long-term deal. He has made clear through agents Rich Rosa and Tony Agnone that he wants the security of a long-term commitment or he wants to be traded to a team that will give him one. The Broncos have been plagued with cap problems that forced them to release defensive end Trevor Pryce and running back Mike Anderson. But Abraham would agree to a long-term deal with Denver as part of any trade, which would slash his cap figure to the $3-million range or perhaps even lower. The Jets have been reluctant to make a long-term commitment to Abraham. They have designated him as their franchise player for two consecutive seasons, restricting his ability to test the free-agent market. Abraham believes he put his injury-plagued reputation to rest last season when he started all 16 games. Although there has been speculation that the Jets and Broncos already are far along in negotiations, a person familiar with Abraham's situation said yesterday that a deal may not happen for a week or two. Until then, a good indication of the Jets' interest in trading Abraham may become clear in the coming days if they express interest in Willie McGinest, who was released by the Patriots yesterday in a cost-cutting move.
I"ll take the #12 overall from the Browns for Abraham, then we could get 2 of the following players: 1-Bush 2-Leinart 3-Young 4-Ferguson 5-Cutler 6-Hawk 7-Mario Williams 8-Ngata 9-Vernon Davis 10-Greenway 11-Huff 12-Jimmy Williams / White / D. Williams
If the Browns want a pass rusher, at #12 Williams will be gone. Abraham is probably the best rusher they could get for the #12 pick. Besides, if we deal Abraham to the Browns for something other then the #12, what would it be? Why settle for a second rounder if we can get one of the Bronco first rounders?
vernon davis higher. If we traded abe for a pirst round pick. Do you think wed take vernon davis for our resident unco jolley? that is if the qbs and d'brick are gone
That's why I'm asking you if not the #12 overall, what do you think the Browns would offer us for Abe?
Probably a second and maybe a mid rounder... I have no idea though... I honestly think in the end we will get Denver's 22nd overall
