I just read on PFT that they offered him a one year deal.....good God...wasn't Gholston enough of an embarrassment?

We are not bringing in Maybin to be the future at OLB (like Gholston was) and we aren't giving him that kind of money... He'll just get a min contract and fight for a chance to make the team. Nothing wrong with that...

At most, he's a nice little project for Rex. At worst, he'll be off the team by September. Don't see much risk there.

Except for the fact that he couldn't even last until the first round of cuts with the Bills this year. He is taking up a roster spot in TC that could be given to someone who has a legitimate shot at cracking an NFL roster.

We need to explore cheap options at OLB.

I'm not saying we should sign Maybin, I'm not saying Maybin is anything more than what he was in Buffalo... but it's prudent for Mikey T to look under rocks at this time.

At worst Maybin gives them a little extra information about a division opponent.

Yea, we drafted him even earlier when his name was Vernon Gholston...

In all seriousness, assuming we don't go balls to the wall and totally use all our remaining money on him, it's low risk high reward. It's a one year deal so if he pans out, we look at keeping him. If he doesn't pan out, we tell him to hit the road. But as always, the Jet fanbase has to overreact. Relax people!

Why? Two guys drafted high that don't fit in a 3-4 that have yet to record a single sack in their careers despite being drafted as pass rushers shouldn't be compared? Silly me.

I asked for it yesterday in the thread. One year deal. Bring him in for the last 3 pre-season games, see whats up. If there's nothing, cut him before the season starts. No big deal.

If this were true, why not grab from the final cuts of your division opponents, as opposed to the first to be jettisoned, even before first cuts?
