I was reading an article about Brian Billick being on the hotseat, and how the Ravens lack a QB (not ground breaking news). With their defense built for a win now team, do you think the Jets could swindle a first day pick from Balt for Chad? he can manage a game well enough, and with the kind of defense they have in balt he could be productive there.

Figure if we could get a 4th or even as high as a 3rd rounder from balt for a guy who can be productive and make decent desicions...maybe he could be the next trent dilfer....

    possible?

Watching the Patriots-Ravens game (I relize basing things off of 1 game is silly, but bear with me)... I think Chad would fit perfectly with Baltimore.

In that game, they really didn't do a whole lot in terms of long passes, the hail mary aside. Mostly it was short/mid quick passes (< 20 yards), with the support of a pretty damned good running game in Willis McGahee.

As for what the Jets, they could maybe get an early 2nd or 3rd round pick(s) out of him... I don't think you want to bring on any of Baltimore's QBs... they're not any better than Chad, not by a long shot.

With 5-6 highly rated QBs coming out in April's draft, snagging one of them (my vote would go to Colt Brennan, tho I'm probably all alone with this) in the first/second round... and then picking up a decent veteran to play mentor to Clemens and <insert drafted QB here>.

    After that... look for OLine!

Billick is way too smart to give a 3rd rounder for Chad.

I wonder if Carolina might be a potential landing spot for Pennington. He would be sort of close to home and his southern twang wouldn't stand out so much. Also, Vinny may mention him to the CS.

All anyone needs to know is that Vinny gets off his couch and still starts games. Look at the garbage QBs out there playing right now, you don't think Pennington will start somewhere? He had a few bad games here and people act like he's done. Personally I wouldn't be so quick to get rid of him. What happens if Clemens turns out to be injury prone like Glenn Foley was? Or if he bombs like Browning Nagle? Then what? Another season down the tubes? Unless you have one of the elite QBs you usually need two guys to make it through a season.

I certainly think Chad will be starting somewhere next year unless he somehow stays here in some capacity.

What vets might we look at if Chad is gone?

I could give 2 shits where he ends up so long as we get reasonable compensation. Hopefully we can go into the draft with more ammo this year.

I think Chad and Atlanta would be a good marriage for a franchise looking to turn the ship around. Falcons line is inept, though, and we know how Chad plays/gets injured in those situations.

Hehehe, just thought about Chad starting in Atlanta with Curtis Martin as the new owner (partial owner). While incredibly unlikely, it gave me a laugh.

I think there are so many teams in need for a quality qb we might be able to get a better deal than most think. i believe the perfect fit would be with the vikings they have a D thats built around stopping the run, and AP, i think a QB that can control the ball, and time of possesion, would be a perfect fit. Control the ball and pound the rock.

chad was very good for jets but it changed. fans of jets must respect former players and wish them happiness and good position in future. i have chad jersey but i wear all time when jets play on tv even in bars. i like chad very much and will be sad if he leaves jets.

which one is better than chad, i say none. Chad may very well be the best QB on the market this offseason.

A third round pick would be great. Probably a 4th or 5th at best.

Billick may not be there next year...

Steve Smith would leave the NFL.

He sorta reminds me of Laveranues.

Sheesh...sorta crappy. Of those four I'd like Sorgi, but we'd lack a true vet.

Steve Smith is 1,000,000 times better than Coles. They aren't on the same level.

Smith is a much bigger threat. Coles is a good receiver, but Steve Smith (with a QB) is the best wideout in the game.

There aren't many teams out there looking for a QB right now really. Most of the top picking teams have already drafted one in the past 2-3 years. I hope we can keep Chad as OUR backup in case of injury. I am NOT familiar with his contract status though, or how he could fit under the cap, so that may not be possible.

I don't know about 1,000,000 times, but I'll concede Smith to be superior. Almost like if Laveranues and Santana bred.
