Arod and Jeter are comparable to Brady and Manning.

When it comes to the regular season, you'll more than likely want ARod or Manning.

Playoff time, you are taking Jeter and Brady.

Comparing such a team sport like football to a mostly individual game like baseball is absurd. A-Rod could go 0-100 for that doesn't impair his teammates ability to hit, while if Manning tosses a couple INT's in a playoff game it really doesn't matter what the rest of the players on offense do.

By the same token you can't compare the positive impact of one player to that of a QB in the NFL, at least not a position player. A pitcher would work, I guess, for strictly a 1 game vs 1 game comparison

Hardly. IF Arod goes 0-100, he cant offer any Protection in the Line-Up.

Conversely, If Manning has an off day, the Colts could try to run the ball.

The comparison is more along the lines of being regarded, as "The Best in the game"

    Maybe before it counts....

They're both amazing regular season players and have hurt their teams in the playoffs but Manning has unquestionably hurt his team more. When you take into account that Manning basically calls his own plays the gap widens even more.

I get what you're going for but I just don't think it's a very good comparison.

Don't insult Peyton Manning with that analogy.

The only reason I wouldn't compare them is because ARod is not even the same regular season player that Manning is. Manning can be relied upon in the regular season to perform in a two minute drill. ARod cannot perform at any time when it really means the difference between a win or loss.

Otherwise, I actually think you make a very good analogy Hobbes. They are both flashy players who are supposedly the epitome of their sport, and yet, they suck like a $5 whore when there is no tomorrow.

Drew made an excellent point with the Manning/ARod vs Brady/Jeter analogy.

This is funny...I was thinking ARod was more like Marino.

That's probably better than Manning. Tons of meaningless stats over the course of a career, and absolutely nothing to show for it.

Just more proof that ARod needs to be sent packing when the season is done.

Or because he owns Kenny Rogers.

    He's 10 for 19 off Rogers with 5 HR's
