Much of Jet Nation is content and hopeful this morning. With six hours to kill until picks resume, time to indulge in one of life's simple pleasure...watching Dolphin fans shit the bed. Here's the live show: http://www.wqam.com/streamer/index.php?displaystreamer=true So far highlights include: "They better get Mallet. I don't care if he takes meth at halftime as long as he wins." Reports from the stadium draft party say the crowd was chanting: "Suck or Luck" The official Draft Tyrod Taylor thread: http://www.finheaven.com/forums/showthread.php?298474-Tylor-Tyrod-with-the-4th-anyone Random thoughts from Finheaven:
Pouncey was a solid choice and I think any fin fan extremely unhappy with it is being unrealistic. Now we got 3 1st round guys on the line like the Jets, hopefully it works out well. I think Incognito played decently at center, so hopefully Pouncey can play guard. Right guard remains to be solved. All our interior linemen are versatile but that didn't help us much last year lol. Jake and Vernon Carey are great, everything else ... idk? 3 QB's were gone and there's a reason Mallett is still available. We don't have a 2nd round pick, so it looks like a veteran QB will be brought in to compete with Henne. Personally, I was somewhat hoping for Ingram, but I do understand that 1st round running backs aren't essential to building a good team. Most of the good teams in this league are being led by 1st round QB's and I am tired of throwing away 2nd rounders on Feeley (in trade), White, and Beck. Henne has one more year for me, but I was extremely disappointed in his performance towards the end of last year. Daboll doesn't excite me alot as the new coordinator, but we shall see!
Dolphins suck ass. In the limited opportunity they've had to do something, they hung their coach out to dry and then completely underwhelmed on their offensive coordinator hire. Pouncey was a reach where they took him.
I agree Pouncey was a little bit of a reach, but look at the circumstances ... Gabbert, Newton and Ponder were gone. Dalton would've been a major reach as would have Mallett. Ingram is really the only pick to make, but value for running back typically doesn't match the first round price tag. Ireland said nobody was lookin to trade to 15 ... Pouncey was the pick. The Pats and Steelers were also interested in him AND it is a position of need for us with all the shuffling of the interior linemen. I'm interested in seeing what Daboll does, kinda concerned. Keep Henne, acquire a veteran and go to camp because drafting a QB DOES NOT do Sparano any favors for this year, he is likely gone if they don't make the playoffs.
Interesting theory coming out of there today: I think Mallet ending up in New England finally pushed most of them over the edge. :finssuck:
I thought Miami's draft was pretty good. It wasn't exciting, but I thought they filled holes. When you are in the market for a QB and don't get one, the fanbase will always be gloom and doom. They'll be fine with Henne this year. He'll probably have a better year. I wouldn't be surprised for them to improve in free agency too.
I agree. It wasn't sexy at all but it filled some holes. But the issue down here right now more than anything is the perception of this draft. I know a half dozen guys off the top of my head that are not renewing their season tickets this year. When you lose 7 of 8 at home and then draft the most vanilla shit you can find, eventually it starts to become not only a football issue, but a business issue. Ross grossly overpaid for this team and if enough people start pulling their season tickets I don't think he can take it for long.
Pouncey is one of the best O lineman in the draft. Look at what his twin bro did at Pittsburgh. And being a UF student, I've had a chance to see him play for awhile. That said, the fact they don't have a QB will fuck them. But hard to say pouncey is a bad pick. With Jake long, Vernon carey and pouncey they'll be really solid up front.
Hah - those faggots extended my ban an extra week for no reason. I was supposed to be back today. They banned me for calling out Marshall for the scumbag that he is.
They had a solid draft I see nothing wrong with it, Henne is probably better than the QBs that were available. If anything the Pats had a strange draft, they must be happy with their receivers. Dolphins still have a long way to go in becoming an elite team in the AFC.
