After seeing DeAngelo Williams run over the Tampa Bay Bucs it is interesting to see how good that RB class turned out to be. And Maroney was basically just unused due to New England's passing attack. And this isn't even mentioning Norwood who has been decent and Leon Washington who has been our biggest playmaker this year.

    Reggie Bush
    Laurence Maroney
    DeAngelo Williams
    Joseph Addai
    LenDale White
    Maurice Drew

    Right now I'd rank them:

    1) Jones-Drew
    2) D. Williams
    3) Addai
    4) Bush
    5) Leon
    6) White
    7) Maroney

Addai is the only one with a Super Bowl ring, right?

I like Leon Washington - but he doesn't come close to any of these guys - he's not a feature back.

I wanted Drew so bad in the draft, when he slipt and we didn't grab him I was furious

Bush might not be a 25 carry per game guy but he is definitely an asset for his team. I think his combination of runs, pass receptions and returns makes him a solid all-around offensive weapon. And his expolsiveness means he can take it to the house on any carry or screen pass. That's fun for fans and a nightmare for defensive coordinators.

Leon has shown some of those skills but not nearly to the extent of Bush. I don't know if that's because he hasn't had as many opportunities or he's just not as good. I'd guess the former. I'd love to see him get a lot more touches in our offense.

2005 was the disaster RB draft in the first round. These guys were all picked in the top 5 choices but got injured and/or became a bust:

    Ronnie Brown
    Cadillac Williams
    Cedric Benson

But look at the later round guys - pure gold:

    3rd round - Frank Gore
    4th round - Marion Barber
    4th round - Brandon Jacobs

How about the 2008 draft for some good RB:

    Darren McFadden
    Jonathan Stewart
    Felix Jones
    Chris Johnson
    Matt Forte
    Ray Rice
    Kevin Smith
    Steve Slaton
    Tashard Choice
    Timothy Hightower
    Peyton Hillis

That was the class of backs that was supposed to reshape the league too. Sadly Williams had the best rookie campaign but the injury bug has decimated him. Benson has just sucked ass, and Brown has been spectacular at times (see new england game one this year) and has been injured in others. However, Gore Barber and Jacobs have been something special for their teams.

Their production is pretty equal, and Leon was a 4th rounder, not the second overall pick.

Leon has been every bit as explosive and productive as Bush. The only part of Bushs NFL career that he wins over Leon is in pass receptions but Leon doesn't get nearly the amount of passes thrown his way that Bush does.

both backs have been in the league for 3 years:

    Leon: 1330 rushing, 11 TD, 802 receiving, 2 TD, 2900 return, 4 TD

    Bush: 1520 rushing, 12 TD, 1583 receiving, 2 TD, 497 return, 4 TD

I'd say they were about as equal as two backs can get. And I'm sure Leon could have more receptions if he were a feature target in our offense.

The Jets really got a steal.

If your talking about just one player vs the other, its Reggie Bush all the way, he has jaw dropping athleticism that just cant be taught. Leon has some but not nearly the amount reggie bush has If it wasn't for the face he was drafted number 2 overall, and being force fed the feature back role, he would be much more productive.

I was a huge DeAngelo Williams fan, my favorite RB of 2006's class, but the Jets had more needs and DW would have been a huge reach at #4. I'm happy with DbricK and Mangold....thankyou.

well of all of those back I would have to go

    1) Jones-Drew
    2) Lendale White
    3) Joe Addai
    4) Leon

The reason I rank Leon higher than a bunch of other guys is that Leon has been the best so far in his time in the NFL. Bush is hurt alot and has not nearly lived up to the expectations. Maroney was a more of an unknown and once again he gets hurt alot. Also Deangelo Williams didnt really break out until this year. Leon has basically gotten progressively better since he was a rookie

Who said anything about taking back those picks although to be fair our running game was a huge gaping hole that year although I am very happy with getting Thomas Jones the following year.

this is exactly why you don't use 1st rounders on rb's and ditto for wr's.

The Giants are completely LOST without Brandon Jacobs. He would kill the opposing team's D for the first half, and for the second half, Bradshaw and Ward would tear it up because the opposing team's D is so worn out.

We need someone with a similar skill set. Any speedy fullbacks in the draft?
