Well my response Reason 9-is partially true I think in the NFL there are a bunch of guys you could say are the best, its probably equally distributed between the Peyton Mannings and Tom Bradys. But in baseball you would be hard pressed to find someone who thinks Albert Pujols is not the best player in baseball, even Arod loving Yankee fans. For the record my favorite is Mariano Rivera but thats a different story Reason 8- I cant really say I have read enough about either to really determine if this is good or bad. Reason 7-bad, obviously the NFL is more in demand so the prices on tickets are up Reason 6-Not bad, I will admit the best athletes in the world do play in the NFL their quickness, speed, and strength is off the charts. But I do think that learning how to hit and pitch at the major league level are the two most difficult skills to learn in any sport (being a QB is 3rd) Reason 5- bad argument if a player has a sharp decline in talent than a team can get screwed over. The NFL morale is worse for the players and better for owners but in baseball it is just flipped Reason 4- Decent argument, it is true that the actual time the ball is in play is not a lot of time, but baseball action often lacks the explosives of even a regular NFL play IMO. Reason 3- 50/50 Look baseball is my favorite sport. I have only been to football games in the medowlands so I cant really say the old stadium was a nice place (even when I sat in the suites up stairs). Also, there is no better feeling than the walk-off (when your on the winning side) Reason 2- It depends which perspective you look at. The issue with baseball is that there are so many owners who dont care about the success of their team and wont pour any money into the team. This tends to kill teams but not always. However, in comparison to the NFL which lacks parity, the MLB has tons of parity Reason 1- Its like literature, I think baseball has just been around for longer, no doubt Jackie Robinson signing was one of the biggest moves towards racial equality in sports, but then again so was the Rooney rule (to an extent) Its not a great list but it does have some ok points
Yeah, more skills are needed to be a baseball player than a football player. I would actually argue that the best athletes, generally speaking, play in the NBA. It's mainly because there are far fewer NFL games than there are MLB games. NFL games are events.
I think hockey is the hardest sport to play overall. Baseball takes the most skill, and football takes the most athleticism, but hockey needs a huge amount of both.
I won't argue with your hockey point. It might indeed be the hardest sport to play. Just the ice skating alone is tough to do.
Initially its easy to see why hockey would be hardest to play, but I think it goes towards football because I mean 250 lb+ guys are not meant to move that quickly. Hockey players are also great athletes because of the speed and strength they have not to mention how quick goaltenders have to be.
while I don't think either sport is better than the other, playoff baseball is about as intense as anything the NFL has to offer
The skill of hitting a baseball is harder, but you probably need to be more of an athlete to play Tennis
Well obviously...the good baseball players get a hit about 30% of the time...you don't see Federer whiff 7 out of 10 shots...that doesn't make it a harder game though, there are more factors than that.
I never said anything about being an athlete. I said baseball takes the most pure skill and football takes the most athleticism.
Tennis consists of hitting a ball with a racquet within a boundary. Hitting a baseball is harder than that, pitching a baseball with accuracy and throwing different pitches is harder than that, and fielding a baseball and making an accurate throw is at least as hard. Skillwise baseball blows tennis away. You may need more conditioning to play tennis than some positions in baseball (pitching and/or catching need quite a bit) but in terms of pure skill it isn't even close.
baseball players don't whiff 7/10 times, they just don't get a hit. they could still hit a line-drive that ended up getting caught.
+1 And I don't take naps during the game, also I would never tune into the last two minutes of a football game. I frequently tune into the bottom of the ninth.
