My main takeaway form that article was that there are a lot more instances of this type of move working out than not working out.

Hopefully this move ends up in the "Good" section of a future version of this article.

SuperBowl?!? I'll settle for competence and late season excitement at this point....

Reading this article reminds me how old I am.:p

The difference between success and failure in getting an older superstar QB depends greatly on how healthy they are and how much they have left in the "tank" - the competitive drive, that latter aspect being the more important aspect IMO. In the case of Rodgers, he's relatively healthy - much like Brady - and has a fierce drive to succeed and prove his doubters wrong. He's a good a bet to succeed with the Jets as anyone listed as a success in the article, and maybe even more so.

Of course the other aspect beyond the QB is does the team have the talent to win a championship? With the Jets that's not quite clear yet, especially regarding the OL, and I would add the RB to that concern. If Breece returns 100% to form, then no worry, but it's more likely that it will take a season for him to fully get back to his former level. In the meantime, the Jets need to improve this position, especially with a less mobile Rodgers at QB.

Bottom line: I think getting Rodgers is the best move the Jets can make, but it's not guarantee of a SB.

There is no mystery as to what the franchises outlook is if they acquire Rodgers. It’s pretty much a two year window at most and then a roster reconstruction or rebuild. We will gear up short term with veterans, and then when he’s gone, we will look like the Buccaneers will this year with a lot of aging veterans and younger draft picks that are ready to move on or really cash in (Sauce/G. Wilson).

Hopefully we do what the Buccaneers did and keep as many draft picks as we can rather than go Mike T’s route and empty the war chest.

Rodgers can help with this off the field if he recruits like Brady did.

I dont think that is going to happen. Three reasons

    1) Rodgers takes up more of the cap than Brady ever did
    2) Brady was more well liked by players than Rodgers is
    3) It's hard to recruit guys when you aren't even officially on the team yet. When/if he becomes a Jet there will be slim pickings left to recruit from!

2 isn’t based on anything other than you believing Rodgers is a dickhead because they traded Davante Adams.

Other than that, the other two are fair.

No, it is based on reality. i didn't say he is a dickhead, I said he's not as liked as Tom Brady, duh.

Tom Brady is the Greatest QB of all time and people flocked to Tampa to play with him. Let me know when Rodgers does anything similar

Hopefully Antonio Brown & Richard Sherman won't be flocking to the Jets... :p

I'm willing to sell my soul for 1 ... that's all I need. I'm not greedy. I could care less if they go 1-16 3 years after but just give me one.

I never subscribed to the Rodgers = super bowl belief.
I'm only hoping the defense could be brought back better than it was. Then even if Rodgers is avg were a double digit win team

Right , I'm sure if they win one I'll want more but if they get one I will remember it until the day I kick the bucket.
