I dont want to get ahead of ourselves -- but in terms of playoffs/wild card (hell--thats what we are aiming for) almost all the games went the right: Baltimore loses to an NFC team Cincy loses loses to an NFC team KC loses and keeps them at 2 wins Buffalo loss. Pretty good day -- even this early on.
No need to worry about Buffalo and Kansas City. The Jets need to worry about Denver, San Diego, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and Jacksonville. We can concede the East and South to New England and Indianapolis. As bad as the Jets look on defense, that's just how good their schedule looks. If Pennington stays healthy the Jets could get to 9-7. I think the best bet is to hope Steve McNair misses a lot of games. The Ravens won't win with Kyle Boller. Then hope for Pittsburgh to be up and down all year. Let Cincinnati win that division. I think Denver and San Diego will both make the playoffs. I think I'm going to be right about Philip Rivers. I thought he was going to be a better pro than Eli Manning and Ben Roethlisberger. He is playing well, has great poise, and is a good leader. That team has an excellent front seven. Luis Castillo, Jamal Williams, and Shawne Merriman are major players. Also, Shaun Phillips has filled in superbly for Steve Foley. I am confident NE, IND, CIN, SD, and DEN will make the playoffs. I believe the final playoff spot will be a fight between Baltimore, New York, Pittsburgh, and Jacksonville.
I would say there are 8 better teams in the AFC than the Jets. 1. Colts 2. Chargers 3. Patriots 4. Broncos 5. Bengals 6. Jaguars 7. Steelers 8. Ravens However, with the Jets schedule this year, they could sneak by a few of those teams and make the playoffs.
That is not really a bad order at all. I really like the Chargers. They are a legit team. They lost nothing with the Brees to Rivers move. They probably even gained a little in that exchange. (I like both those guys and am pleased both are doing well.) The Ravens with McNair are better than Pittsburgh. With Boller they are decidely worse than Pittsburgh. The difference in those two QBs is just that huge.
That's no fight at all. The Jets aren't remotely as good a team as any of the other contenders. You want to make the playoffs? Then we have to knock off New England.
You never know what happens in the NFL--guys get hurt, shit happens. Stay in the hunt, win as many division and AFC games as you can, hope for the best. Half the league usually ends up between 7-9 and 9-7, just play the games and hope you have the tiebreakers at the end.
McNair has played like shit this year and Boller came in and threw a few TD's. Not saying he's better, but McNair wasn't really giving them a better chance to win. Cincy might be a bit overrated this year. Losing to TB? Bmore/Pitts/Cincy will be in a dogfight just to win their division. Colts/Denver/Jacksonville/SD/NE/ and 1 of the 3 from the North will go to the playoffs. No way jets end up with a better record than Jax or SD/Denver.
I'm not saying they didn't. I was responding to fact that the poster said Boller gives them a better chance to win. Yeah, if he can bounce one to his receiver every week then they are going to the Super Bowl!
Very tough, we just gotta make sure we keep winning the games we should be winning. With all the upsets that happened yesterday, im glad we came out with a W. One game at a time, guys.
