i haven't seen many people talk about Abram Elam's interception yesterday. Remember, the Bills were driving down the field and were in our red zone about to take the lead. Out of no where, everybody's favorite scapegoat Abram Elam came through with a HUGE interception and returned it 90+ yards for the score. The last few weeks, the Jets could not get any breaks. We were losing the turnover battle against weaker teams and it seemed like no one could come through with a big play. i know our buddy Elam has made some boneheaded plays last year and many people were down on him. But this play was game changing and i believe it was the main reason why we won this game. And i also truly believe that we will look back on this play and say it was the play that changed our season. :jets:
It was a game changing play, but it was all Jenkins. He pushed through the center and the guard and got right in Edwards' face.
They both suck... That was a gimme pick because the pressure forced the QB into making a terrible decision... I give Elam props for holding on to the ball and going all the way- a David Barrett would have dropped it, but that play was all Jenkins, and Elam still is mediocre at best
yes jenkins getting to the qb helped, but elam jumped on that ball and ran with it. If he doesnt jump on the ball, make the catch and return it for the td the game may have been different. I'm not trying to take anything away from the way jenkins played on sunday but to not give elam any credit (possibly because of him running into his own team mate and blowing his chance for an int last year) is just ignorant. Thank you Elam
Oh i absolutely agree that Jenkinks is a beast and made that play happen. My point was that in past weeks (and past seasons for that matter) our DB have been dropping easy interceptions and not recovering fumbles. it was just nice to see a player coming through with a huge play that not many of us would have predicted. Contributions from these types of players are what makes good teams great
Let's just be happy that wasn't Smith tripping over himself while trying to break on the ball and consequently, allowing Parrish to walk into the endzone.
Yes, he can catch a ball thrown right to him because of a great play by Jenkins. Following that the worst return I've seen in ages. The guy isn't very good. The Jets need a better safety in the offseason.
elam gets credit now let him keep the Job. hes serviceable... smith would of tried to swim through the football
elam is actually really overrated.....hes really the only player in our secondary that plays with fire..... kerry rhodes used to have that but hes quiet this year darrelle is up there too with the whole fire thing and lowry will get it hopefully i enjoy watching him play....
I turned to talk to a buddy then I looked back and elam is running the other way. It was a good momentum swing. A defensive TD is always always a good thing no matter how ugly it may look.
Elam should be starting from here on out. Period. Not that he's great by any stretch, but he's our best option right now. Eric Smith should be given the Justin Mc-Sh-t treatment. I don't even want him on the team. We could pick up any guy off the street for the league minimum, and that guy would be better than this piece of trash. E. Smith is lamer at his position than Dewayne fatboy Robertson was at 3-4 Nose.
Really? Have you seen the highlight reels? Everything is about Elam's 92 yd pick-6 and there was very little love for Jenkins or Revis besides in the newspaper articles.
Elam has certainly made more plays than Smith and seems to be less of a liability in coverage. He seems like someone who normally won't set the world on fire but is certainly solid enough to start.
i meant on theganggreen.com. i wrote this post before seeing Elam's pick the number 3 play in the top 10 on ESPN.
