A few things that I was mildly surprised to see, so take them as you will. Remember that there are two games to be played tomorrow night, but so far: 1. The Jets had the best total yardage vs the run: 25 total yards allowed. 2. The Jets had the best total yardage vs the pass: 151 total yards allowed. 3. The Jets are nearly 100 yards better in total yards allowed (176) than 2nd best teams (Seattle and Tennessee tied at 269 total yards allowed) 4. The Jets had the most total rushing yards, with 212. 5. The Jets have the 7th most productive offense behind only Falcons, Steelers, Saints, Eagles, Ravens, and Bears. I'm aware it's only 1 week (which isn't even over) but the Jets have the #1 defense and a top 10 offense. If we can cut down turnovers we really could have a decent year.
That's possible, but it's also possible that it might. With Milliner returning, Allen's promising day today, and Pryor's development we actually could have a better than average secondary.
We all know it's gonna be said and it's true so I'll just say it....... It's only week 1!!!! Let's not get carried away.
^Ha. It's 2009 all over again! Good shit. Our corners seemed way better than anticipated. It was against a rookie QB though, so it isn't the be all end all. With that said, we did dominate the Raiders on both sides of the ball, if not for a few timely mistakes this game would have been a blowout. Pryor looked on top of things. He really should have had a pick 6 there. One thing I REALLY loved was the open field tackling. Allen tore it up.
It's nice but it was weak one against the Raiders who most people pick to be maybe a 4 or 5 win team.
If the Jets are top 3 against the run and 22nd against the pass this year they are going to breeze into the playoffs.
It's hard to believe all that is true and we only managed to win by a lousy 5 points. Scary actually.
I hate to be this guy but I seem to remember before this week everyone saying the Raiders would be much improved with Carr, MJD, and new pieces on offense. In all honesty (I told this to some Raider fans too) Carr IS the future for the Raiders and I think he is going to have a great year, and maybe even win OROY. He had the best game by far that a rookie QB has ever had against a Jets defense. He constantly took what was given to him, which was mainly nothing and that throw to Jones at the game was sick. Oakland gets Houston at home next week and I wouldn't be shocked one bit if they win, espeically now that Clowney is out.
I expect this team to lead the league in rushing with 2 above average RB's and a mobile QB, and backup QB.
Green Bay will be a good test to see what this team really is or isn't,id like to see us run the ball a lot more to limit Rodgers possesions
Hopefully Powell gets some more snaps to he has big play ability sometimes,I feel like he is perfect on 3rd n 3 or 3rd and 4.We should use him in those situations ,CJ can be used at anytime in any situation but people underestimate Powell
Ain't that the truth. Fuck being dominant against the pass. Let the run defense take us to the playoffs. If we are as dominant against the run like we were against Oakland, we are going to the playoffs. If every team has to consistently rely on the pass to beat us, our odds go up significantly. You need a run game, plain and simple. Our run defense made MJD look like a backups backup. Funniest thing was watching Marshall Faulk tweet to MJD before the game telling him "You're a probowl RB now go out and show the world what a healthy MJD can do in 2014". Lmao I guess a healthy MJD runs for 9 yards
