Recently there have been several doom and gloom posts/threads regarding where the Jets stand in 2009. Brady is back, TO is in Buffalo, and the Tuna continues to build a team in Miami. We have to play each of these teams twice and the rest of the schedule is no picnic. We have made some great off season picks ups but with that being said we need to think realistically. Are the Jets right now superbowl contenders? No. Playoff caliber you bet...chance to win a tough division...ok...capable of capturing a wildcard...sure...superbowl..no, not yet. People need to understand Rex is BUILDING a team. Our D is implementing a new system with new talent. Its gonna take time for everyone to get acclimated and play to their highest potential within the system. Our offense...a few major question marks. Clemens or Ratty...no one is really sure what these guys are yet. We need a WR and possibly that will be taken care of via the draft. The other pieces are there. I'm looking at this as a plan that may take a few years before it comes to fruition. 2009 is not a make or break year...its the beginning of a new era that will take time to develop. If the Jets can finish 9-7 or 10-6 with the schedule they have and play better on defense I'd call that a good year. I've said what I wanted to say...so go ahead and start to shit on it...
i expect this team will be in most games they play. the final record will come down to how they execute at the end of close games. i could see the record ranging anywhere from 6-10 wins based on how "clutch" the team ends up being.
that would be a good year for not only Ryan but which ever QB is behind center. Everyone has to realize that is what its going to come down to this year, the QB. I can't wait for everyone to start screaming about how this team sucks because they were dumb enough to go into the season with three kids at the position, when 80% of the board wanted it to happen.
9-7/10-6 COULD be a disaster. It depends how we start. If we are 8-3 again and go 9-7/10-6 it could be bad. If we are 6-6 and finish 9-7/10-6 it would be great.
if we finish 9-7/10-6 this season..I'd be eccstatic. We play the NFC South this year...and there's some high-octane offenses in that division (Saints, Panthers, Falcons, Bucs). Our defense will be in tough....but it will be fun to watch.
I do not want to be Mr. Negative but I do not see it we have a very hard schedule I think we have 8 games vs teams with 11 wins or better. Bradys back & the Pats got Taylor, Baker & Springs. In Miami the Tuna is building a winner anything that guy does works. The Bills got TO so now with him & Evans they will be tuff to beat they already had a good running & D.
2009 is an odd number. The Jets have done really poorly on those since 2003. Is it a random pattern or is it the result of spending a lot of resources in even numbered years and then having the odd numbered years come up short? We'll see.
6 divisional games that have me worried as we stand. I am all for DEFENSE but offensively speaking alot of ???? marks.
Doom and gloom? Anyone who is upset or unhappy with what has transpired this offseason and last offseason is just retarded. Sorry but that's the truth. I feel very spoiled to be a Jet fan for the past couple of years. I feel that every FA I've personally wanted has been acquired except for B. Favre... I was never very happy with that move. Anyway, I'm having a great time being a Jet fan, and to think that some fans are unhappy about our moves as of late leaves me completely puzzled. I'm excited as sh1t to see an agressive blood thirsty defense on the field this year and in no way shape or form am I worried that Buffalo got T.O. Go Jets!!! I'm not going to predict a record, just an entertaining season, and as a fan that's all I can ask for.
HOME Jacksonville--tough D no Offense Tennessee--I see a regression without Albert Atlanta--back to earth for ATL Carolina--aging fast AFC North AWAY Houston--Still suck Indianapolis---on the decline New Orleans--if they get LT, they will be nasty Tampa Bay---rebuilding AFC West---
By the same logic we could expect Chad to have a bad 2009 as well. Kidding me? You love posting moronic opinions for the sake of being contrary.
I think Chad is going to have a very bad 2009, starting with the likelihood that he'll be replaced as Dolphins QB before the season starts. Parcells does not like game managers. NY Giants - Phil Simms, New England Patriots - Drew Bledsoe, NY Jets - Vinny Testaverde, Dallas Cowboys - Bledsoe followed by Tony Romo. Chad was an aberration for him last season, a game manager to keep things steady while he assessed the damage and the rebuild. Same role Neil O'Donnell played for him with the Jets in 1997. Chad is better than 50/50 to be gone from the Dolphins completely by the time TC rolls around.
Exactly thats every teams goal anything else is unacceptable. I expect a superbowl each year. Screw the record get the ring.
