25. Buff - Worst on 3rd down. 4th worst passing attack. Most rushing yards allowed. Strong against the pass, again the other team is too busy rushing. 26. Sea - 4th most giveaways. 5th worst rushing game. Poor against the pass and few takeaways. 27. Cle - Worst passing attack, but not by as much as earlier in the year. 3rd fewest points scored. 2nd best return game. Bad against the rush and the pass. 28. TB - Scores too few points, poor on 3rd down, 3rd most takeaways. 2nd worst rushing defense that allows too many points. Pretty much Buffalo south. 29. Oak - Can punt the hell out of the ball. Fewest points scored. 2nd worst passing attack. 2nd worst on 3rd down. Worst return game by a fair bit. 3rd most rushing yards allowed. Bad at takeaways. 30. StL - Fewest points scored. Defense is bad across the board. 31. KC - Offense is below average across the board. 2nd most rushing yards allowed by a bad defense. 32. Det - Below average to horrible across the board. Most points allowed and tied for most passing yards allowed. Summary: These teams have stunk this season. Most points allowed and tied for most passing yards allowed.
How can you say that Detroit and Kansas City are worse than the 1 win St. Louis. And Cleveland is by far the best out of these eight teams at the moment riding on a 3 game win streak. Plus the absence of the Skins puzzles me. All the experts were saying how they were going to play spoiler on their NFC East rivals playoff hopes, and instead they took a beating from the Ginas and then were shutout by the Cowboys. IMO Cleveland should be taken out of the list and replaced with the Redskins.
As the Jets former coach famously said, " You are what your record says you are." Less emphasis on stats and more emphasis on wins and losses and watching the live games will aid in your assessments. There's no way Washington shouldn't be on this list. Cleveland and Oakland are both better than the skins and you can see that by watching each team play.
Detroit isn't above average in any aspect of the game of football. They are truly bad at scoring, giving the ball away, points allowed(30.5ppg), pass defense and sacks. That earns them the bottom of my list. KC is Detroit with a punter, except they are horrible against the rush and average against the pass. StLouis is decent at special teams. That is how they end up 30th, instead of last. Cleveland used to hold the bottom of my rankings. Again, I don't adjust ratings based upon when a game was played, week 1 counts as much as week 16. Cleveland's defense is just terrible. Washington is next on my list at 24th. Their defense is still average, not bad. Their passing game has approached mediocre while the ground game has disappeared. I think ditching Vinny Cerrato is a great indicator for the future of this franchise. He was Danny's enabler and getting rid of him indicates that DannyBoy may indeed let football people run the team while he sniffs jocks.
Miami should be in there, just for the simple fact that this is a Jets forum, I know it's on the NFL board-
No argument from me. While the Lions have a few players now and seem to be on the right track, Millen left the team so bereft of talent that this team still will be a bad one next year, even if they nail all of their draft picks/FAs.
...but they have the worst record in the NFL. The Rams also have one of the best running backs in the league. Still, they have the worst record in the league. If you have the top pick in the draft, you are the worst team in the NFL.
