This is total crap. South Carolina vs. Clemson is one of the biggest rivalries in the country and both teams will be ranked at the beginning of the season!! How is that game not even on the list?
Ohhhhh yeaaaaah! 48. UCLA at Notre Dame, Oct. 21 The last time these two played was 1964 with the Irish winning 24-0. This will only be the third meeting between the two (Notre Dame won the other game in 1963). 46. Notre Dame at Georgia Tech, Sept. 2 The Yellow Jackets showed what they could do in openers shocking Auburn last year. Now they'll try to ruin Notre Dame's national title hopes before they can begin. 29. Penn State at Notre Dame, Sept. 9 These two giants haven't played since the classing 17-16 Irish win in 1992. Notre Dame has to follow this up with a battle with Michigan. 26. Michigan at Notre Dame, Sept. 16 Always one of the most anticipated games of the year, Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr needs this non-conference road win to keep the heat off. 2. Notre Dame at USC, Nov. 25 Notre Dame has lost its last two games at USC by a combined score of 85-23. Just imagine the hype if both teams are unbeaten. It might be better than the national championship. SWEEP!
Im actually surprised that they actually put that on the list, cuz the nation doesnt care as much as it used to. I havent missed that game in like 12 years and now it means alot more to me than ever before. GO NAVY, BEAT ARMY!!!
I fucken hate FLA st. vs. Miami being the first game of the year. the losing team freaken was no shot at a BCS bid or title contention. its garbage.
That's not true. And who cares when the game is, they still have to play. At least when they get it done early they can argue they are a different team at the end of the season. If your team deserves a big bowl, it will get it otherwise whining about the scheduling is retarded.
true, but in college football losing the first game blows all hope for a BCS title birth and gives the team a disadvantage in the next games because they put their all in a rivary game and lost. If it was the last game played and both teams were undefeated and had a chance at the BCS it would be much more exciting. at least Ohio state/Texas have a game before their matchup and USC/ ND don't play until the end of the season.
Realistically, losing a game period all but kills your chance at getting to the BCS title game, but I do understand what you're saying. The reason I don't like the game being at the start of the season is that both teams usually look like crap. It kind of kills the luster of the game when both teams out there are looking like they'd barely be able to hold off Florida Atlantic, much less the other.
Not true, Miami or FSU's title hopes would be better if they had 1 loss coming in the 1st week against one of the top teams in the sport than if they had 1 loss coming in the last week of the season. The polls are most definately a "what have you done for me lately" business. BTW why is USC - Nebraska so high? Is Nebraska supposed to be legitimate again?
Yeah you are all messed up Pennythetowelboy. Like Green Hurricane said, ya aint making it to the National Championship if you lose a game nowadays. But at least you can make it to a BCS Bowl if you lose the first game. If you lose the last game you are basically fucked. What's better? A 10 game win streak or losing your last game and letting an upstart sneak by you? At the end of the year, that is typically the time where all the people come out and pitch arguments why they are ranked too low and should get a BCS bid (*cough* Texas 2 years ago *cough*). You surely don't want to give any reason then.
If Hart and Henne can return to their freshman forms then that game may be a difficult one. Also having USC on the road is a scary thing, and having it been in November will give Pete Carrol just enough to to have Booty used to Jarrett and Smith, and the defense will likely be good under his charge. The top 2 games on this list should be walks, but GT as said is a perfect trap game. Notre Dame is pretty lucky to get Penn State early in the season and at home, as Morelli's strong arm will show flashes but he won't quite be used to his excellent receiving core yet. Notre Dame probably has an 80% chance of winning that game. I'm going to say ND goes 4-1 in these 5 games, losing either the USC or Michigan game.
ok, but still i would like to see a well played game, unlike the sloppy unprepared game they played last year
