6 Irish students were killed today when a balcony collapsed in Berkeley. 5 aged 21 and 1 aged 22 while 7 more are critically injured. This is a right of passage for 90% of Irish students, we spend our summers working in the USA. Obviously a massive story here, the other story here is the comments section on the fox news story which to put it mildly was a disgrace, conservative republicans mocking and cheering the deaths because they happened at a "liberal" college. Hopefully in future elections Irish Americans will remember that reaction
The deaths are a tragedy. I have a solution concerning fox news: turn them off. Every time you react to things they say, it helps their ratings and influence.
Holy crap that is awful. Can't imagine being a parent and having that happen to a child. Btw, I'm a moderate conservative and I haven't watched Fox "News" in over a decade. _
Tbf we don't watch fox news. Their website was one of the first with the news, it's the comments on their website that have caused the issue.
Wow.... horrible news and as far as those commenting, I'm saddened but not shocked. America has become so polarized and is ripping itself apart at the seams over this conservative vs liberal thing. None of it matters as our leaders are laughing about the division all the way to the bank as are the 1% of Americans who get them elected.
The system is working perfectly. Politicians on each side convince their segment of the population that the other half of the population is their enemy and they keep the people from uniting against both of them thus ensuring they both maintain their power. Vote for me because they are bad is easier than vote for me because I am good. Apparently it was wood rot because it wasn't properly sealed when built. Ahh, modern construction.
