1. Damon "Snacks" Harrison This guy showed he deserves the starting NT job. He was taking up so much space and was a constant force with the C and OG's that he had completely overwhelmed them by the time the 4th quarter was just starting. Constant push and holding the point of attack. Also was very impressed by how well he was reading the plays as soon as the ball was snapped. Extremely extremely impressive starting debut 2. D'Brick Again showed why he's one of the elite LT's in the game. If I'm not mistaken I believe he gave up only 2 pressures that I saw. It was the interior of our line that had Geno running all day long. Quick feet and strong hands kept the DE's and LB's out of Geno's face from his side pretty much all game 3. Geno Smith Got to give it up to to rook. Showed he can handle the moment and not be completely overwhelmed when shit takes a bad turn. Constantly stayed tough in the pocket only scrambling when necessary and making some clutch throws. And God Damn he throws a pretty ball. If he can continue to grow the tangibles of the position while maintaining the poise and composure he showed today then there certainly seems to be a very very bright future in store for him.
I'll have to look for this when I re-watch the game, but it looked to me like Brick got his ass kicked today.
Two I'd add to that list would be... Sheldon Richardson, considering him being a rookie and certainly not playing like one Barnes, especially early on and considering how little he showed in the preseason EDIT: And I'm still getting a #40 Bohannon jersey.
Brick more than held his own. Austin Howard looked like WFH Vladimir Ducasse WAS a fucking WFH. That's what.
Exactly. My apologies for not going a little more in depth. Howard had a very up and down performance while Ducasse, while showing his mauler abilities on some run plays, still showed just how much of a liability he is in pass protection. He's going to get someone killed if he doesn't figure that out and quick. Every time Geno dropped back my eyes went straight to Ducasse, and it was not a pretty picture. If I was Pro Football Focus, Ducasse is probably going to have a pretty negative grade on today's performance. Howard just needs to work on footwork and leverage, then his pass pro will improve. He doesn't need any more work in the run game.
Don't get me wrong, both players were very impressive as well. Just those 3 to me were real standouts in the overall aspect. If I added a 4th player it would have been Richardson
1. Geno Smith- exceeded expectations showed poise and made a ton of good plays. Outside of the fumble and int which were rookie mistakes he played well. I liked that he used his legs to pick up yards and was able to buy time in the pocket. 2. Sheldon Richardson- he was in on every play and was constantly getting pressure. 3. Mohammed Wilkerson- he wrecked havoc and was in on every play he even got a sack.
Vlad was not good. As a whole the OL wasnt what youd like, allowed consistent pressure and we couldnt run the ball. I was very impressed with Geno Smith, Damon Harrison, the DL, and David Harris.
3 Players I was most impressed with : Nick Folk Nick Folk and oh yeah... NICK F'N FOLK!! It's amazing that this guy somehow manages to basically escape these Kicker-competitions yearly and keep his job, and then to come out and be Mr. Clutch for us.... I swear he might just be one of the most under-appreciated players on the Jets.
I was saying this earlier this offseason in a thread about a kicker the jets signed. (don't remember which one) I remember this guy always coming up big for us when we needed him, whether it's today's game, the September 11th game against the Cowboys last year, Colts wildcard playoff game, etc. Nick Folk has always been a solid part of the team, and extremely under-appreciated
Wilkerson, Richardson & Geno. I was terrified when Wilks went down with that cramp. Geno was decent at times, but I was thinking about how much I wanted Sanchez in near the beginning. He did show fortitude and seemed to improve as the game went on. This game was the hardest D Geno will face in the early season. Coming up we have Pats, Titans and Bills. I think he'll be alright. I'm happy with the way we kept Martin in check. That IMO was what put us over more than the rest. We can finally stop the run again!
Yes Nick Folk came up clutch, but that's what hes paid to do. His sole purpose in life is to drill FG's in clutch time. So that's why he's not on my list. He's either gona be a hero or goat, no in between. So a K is not going to make it on my list ever, unless he drills like 4 50+ yarders
