Jets are starting the season on the road in San Francisco on Monday night, then plays in Tennessee on 9/15 Sunday and then plays at home against the Pats on 9/19 Thursday night. 3 games in 10 days. Hope we come out of it 3-0 but I will take 2-1 as well.
When Jets are playing Thursday Night I hate it as well. But when it is other teams, at least I have a choice to watch football if the match up is good.
Chances of 2-1 all boils down to that Tennessee game imo (since we absolutely should expect to lose to SF, but/and at minimum prove capable of beating beat a league worst NE football team). I initially had them as one of our easier potential Ws on the board, but now I've come around to thinking they might end up being that surprisingly good turn around team in 2024 (kinda like Houston last year while coming out of the cupcake division).
I'm with you. I think Thursday night football sucks all the way around. ESPECIALLY trying to manage my fantasy team!
A win Monday night would be huge for this team. Take some pressure off, show that they can beat one of the best on their field, and head into 2 softer matchups.
I mean, every team usually plays two games eight days, so stating it in a different way just makes it more dramatic than it is. That said, I hate Thursday Night games. Even back in the old days i thought it was tough on the teams playing on Thanksgiving. At least we are getting this now when we are 100% healthy, and, if we are a good team, this is what the good teams have to overcome. I never paid much attention to the schedules of Dallas, KC, SF etc, but i imagine they get stretches like this all the time because of their high TV ratings appeal.
Eh week 1 is weird. We've had plenty of seasons that started out in week 1 great (2018 for example) and we wound up awful and weve seen week 1 losses turn to afccg seasons (98,10). I wouldn’t pencil that as a sure fire loss. Plus the niners have never been a can’t beat regular season team under Shanahan.
I fear you are right. I've heard it discussed more than once on the NFL Channel on SiriusXM. I've also heard an 18 game season brought up.
Sad I couldn't even bring myself, to watch last night's game, that was far better than Thursday night trash.
If we could go back to just Sunday and Monday Night games that’d be my vote I HATE the Thursday shit, I hate the Friday game, and I hate the miscellaneous games on streaming services that don’t really know how to manage live games…do I have to somehow record or not? Where do I go to get saved games? Etc. Just awful This year I’m going with NFL+ Premium…$15/month and you get all of the games but the catch is they are not all available live. Only the local broadcast and prime time games are live…all others you have to wait until the game is over. Full broadcast typically available about 5-10 minutes after game is over, but they also have the condensed replay that shows all the plays without the downtime in between, so I watched the entire Eagles/Packers game in 45 minutes. It’s a trade off for sure not being able to watch live, but here in LA it just means I can’t start watching football until about 1pm instead of 10am…I’ll see how it goes
I think we start 0 - 3 The Thursday night game will be 1 of the only 3 or 4 games the Pats win all season.
What compounds the 3 games in 11, is that the first one is on Monday Night on the west coast. It’s like losing another 1/2 day and then our early game on the following Sunday is on the road, so we have to travel again on a short week on both ends. Then we have the pleasure of playing across the pond and not having a bye the week after. Add in all our Nationally televised games our history in that dept. it is fascinating to me how many people are on the Jets bandwagon, I just don’t see it this year.
Good points, you could be right. But the Jets didn’t make the playoffs when the schedule was favorable either. I think a lot of the players on this particular team are prone to distraction. There’s something to be said about playing so many games in a row as there is less time for distraction
