As of 3/22, the Jets have most recently signed Michael Vick and are rumored to be interested in DeSean Jackson... This mock includes how I might go about free agency and the draft. Jets are projected to get 5th, 6th, 6th and 7th round compensation picks ADDITIONAL FREE AGENTS - FS Chris Clemons, 2yr/5M – Will handle coverage responsibilities, teaming with and complimenting Antonio Allen and Dawan Landry. Ideally, I would like to see each of the three getting significant playing time rather than Allen relegated to special teams. - CB Terrell Thomas, 1yr/ 2M (also consider Carlos Rogers) - team seeks additional veteran presence and competition for the position - ILB Desmond Bishop, 1yr/800K – Often-injured, but experience in a 3-4 and played well in limited time in 13’… Comes cheap and provides depth with more upside if healthy DRAFT 1. Brandin Cooks, WR, Oregon St – The more look into Cooks, the more I see there is to like… Would be a speedy, reliable compliment to Decker 2. Troy Niklas, TE, Notre Dame – This is a spot where I see some clashes between value and need… Niklas is still new to the position, but had a nice 2013 season and has ability, potential and size for all aspects of the position 3. Carl Bradford, LB, Arizona – Bradford may project inside or outside in a 3-4, increasing his value and versatility… Would add a young pass-rushing threat to the linebacker group (OLB Jeremiah Attaochu or OLB Demarcus Lawrence also very much in consideration depending on availability) 4a. Charles Sims, RB, West Virginia – A pretty complete back with blocking and receiving skills… Should be an immediate contributor (if unavailable, RB James White) 4b. Rashaad Reynolds, CB, Oregon St – Underrated, well-rounded prospect with the tools to start at the next level… 5. T.J. Jones, WR, Notre Dame – Another guy with the potential to surprise and contribute… Good hands and good route runner 5comp. Jordan Tripp, ILB, Montana – Could project to inside in a 3-4… Special-teams potential as well 6. Trey Burton, TE/WR/HB, Florida – More offense for the team, the fourth receiver selected… Great hands, smarts and character and can be tried at multiple positions and moved around in the offense 6comp. Tom Savage, QB, Pittsburgh – Big arm, nice intangibles and will compete for third QB role with possibility to ascend if he develops 6comp. Jonotthan Harrison, C/OG, Florida – versatile depth for the line 7. Kasim Edebali, OLB/DE, Boston College (or OLB Derrell Johnson) – terrific motor and burst, could have a shot on passing downs immediately 7comp. Nat Berhe, S, San Diego St – Undersized, underrated safety with good all around skills and coverage ability ROSTER QB: Geno Smith / Michael Vick (N) / Matt Simms / Tom Savage (R) RB: Chris Ivory / Charles Sims (R) / Bilal Powell / Mike Goodson FB: Tommy Bohannon WR: Eric Decker / David Nelson / T.J.
