Geno was slated to start last year, and doing very well in camp. If not for IK, Geno would have started last season and played until he was injured or benched or won the SB. There's at least a small chance Geno would beat our Fitz in camp, especially with Devin Smith and Amaro coming back. (yes, i know devin might not be ready)

0% chance. Especially whatever the Jets end up paying Fitz. Oh and he is better. Oh and the coaching staff is done with Geno.
Even if Fitz doesn't come back I think the Jets will draft a guy. Geno would have to beat out Petty and a rookie in order to start. Not impossible, but I don't see Fitz going to another team.
Fitz will be signed after the draft... Geno will get beat out by Petty for #2 and will be our 3rd QB.
if the coaching staff is 'done' with Geno then why is Maccagnan still paying him to be on the team? Don't give me "It's only a few million". Macc is cash strapped and looking for dollars under every rock. If Geno was done, he'd be cut. Even if there's little cash to be saved but cutting him, there's a precious roster spot he's taking up.
He has no reason to cut Geno prior to signing or drafting another player. Imagine he cuts Geno, Fitz retires/signs somewhere else and Hoyer signs with the Broncos? We'd look like morons going into next season with Petty & only a rookie or career backup on the roster.
Geno played exclusively against the 1st team while Fitz mixed in with both the 1st and 2nd team. So Slater's completion stats are meaningless. Moreover Geno didn't throw an INT until August 10th whereas Fitz had thrown several by that time. Slater is just being manipulative with his writing. Some journalists seemed to come up with different conclusions than others and didn't mention all the facts, like the way Slater doesn't mention some of Fitz's stats coming from the 2nd team or the fact Fitz had more INTs. Geno beat out Fitz and the latter wasn't "on par".

Wait. First you say the Coaching staff is done with Geno and he'll never play here again. Now you're saying Geno MAY start under certain circumstances, which is all I said to begin with! Great minds think alike.
If smith starts we will have another new gm and coach if not next year the year after..guaranteed. he may go down as the only qb in history to get two gms and two HCs fired on the same team.
If they are playing a long con and have a handshake deal with Fitz it would probably show their hand.
