There lies your problem. Incompetence all around. First round picks since 2008: Busts: Gholston, Sanchez, Wilson, Milliner Borderline: Keller, Coples, Pryor Good: Wilkerson, Richardson Not one offensive player taken since 2009 We have one good wide receiver, an 0-line that is getting worse, an average at absolute best young QB (again) an atrocious secondary with options available.
The Unspoken Word: Woody told Idzik not to spend up to the cap because he is still taking a bath on the cost overruns for MetLife, the lack of advertising revenue, and the PSL debacle. How much did the Jets lose on the PSL's alone -- $50 MM ???
Where do you get suc h garbage? Jets lost absolutely nothing on the PSLs, it's all found money. They may not get the stadium paid off as quickly, but don't feel bad for the Jets. The tv money alone is enough to give them a substantial profit. The stadium is just more gravy.
What difference does it make which side they took them on? If Rex is a defensive mastermind and managed to get 2 impact players out of 6 first round picks, he might have gone 0-6 on offense. But more seriously, I don't think there's any evidence that Rex wouldn't pick offensive players early, if he felt really good about them. He did draft Sanchez the highest of any pick in his tenure. It's just since he knows a lot more about defense, he probably felt more confident in his ability to select defensive players, and also in such a small sample size (6 years), those players he picked might have been the BPA. If those picks worked out for us at a higher rate, we might have a truly dominant defense now, and I don't think anyone would complain about this then.
Calling Sanchez & Wilson busts is really reaching. Sanchez was serviceable and the Jets did not give him the supporting cast his last 2 years. There have been much more terrible QBs in the league than Sanchez. And Wilson is still playing for us so he obviously must be better than most of the other slot corners we have brought in. Keller is done because of injuries - not because he couldn't play, Coples has more sacks than Gholston so right there its negated as borderline bust and Pryor hasn't played a full season yet. I'm still not sold on Miliner as a bust yet either. So you have Gholston to lean on. Even DSlob lasted 6 years with the jets and he was a terrible pick. Stop the hating.
Yes he definitely is, at this moment. He was a first round draft pick. This is his second year in the league and he has played 16 games, started 14. He was benched last year and was burned to no end. He has been injured all this year and has barely touched the field. That's not a bust?
Think the offensive busts in the 2nd round have really hurt this team. Vlad and Hill didn't work out and their positions are major weaknesses. Jets now have some talent at WR but it's costing them some serious cash. Next season --> Kerley+Decker+Harvin = zero rookie contracts. Really puts pressure to hit on the rookie picks elsewhere on the team.
There's no "to this point." You're either a bust or you aren't and you certainly aren't one after only playing 16 games. He's shown plenty of ability. If he can stay healthy, he'll be a player.
You know....if we had used all our cap space, there's no law against cutting people and/or renegotiating next year. This BS that you have to save cap space for current stars like Wilkerson is 100% BS. Nobody else does it, how come we needed to do it ? What is this, 1993 and the Giants and Phil Simms all over again where you are going to be forced to cut players you don't want to ????
