They’re going to have to eat $20 million in dead cap unless they want to pay him $26 million and $27 million the next two years which is outrageous. It was a bad trade if he returned to form but he looks awful out there. He was a really good player for us and he locked down tightends, created TFL’s, sacks, broke up crossing routes and anything within 10 yards of the LOS. He got absolutely smoked by Ferguson last night and was celebrating ankle tackles after 7 yard gains.
That game felt like the fix was in for Dallas. They want the eagles/cowboys game next Sunday night to get the same numbers the eagles/chiefs got.
I found it pretty interesting watching both of these teams last night and looking at the rosters. Observation #1: the Seahawks are one of several teams that have a ton of draft picks leave to go get paid and then return on team friendly veteran contracts thereafter. Frank Clark, Jarran Reed, Bobby Wagner namely. They also have some players that just stay with the franchise (their two backup tightends, DeeJay Dallas). None of these players are world beaters but meh the team culture there must be great. When’s the last time we had someone come back to the Jets and start? Kelvin Beachum and Brandon Shell couldn’t wait to get the fuck out of here if I remember correctly. Observation #2: I am quite jealous of the Cowboys roster. Yeah they never win anything but they’re good every single year and minus a couple supplemental free agents their entire roster is homegrown. Down to their slot corners and backup defensive tackles. Check it out; https://www.ourlads.com/nfldepthcharts/depthchart/DAL The method of acquisition is next to their names like 18/3 if they were draft picks.
^^ And it seems like the last couple of seasons they have been able to limit Jerry's influence on the roster and coaching staff. Kellen Moore was 100% on Jerry.
Very bad weather in Pittsburgh - there was a long delay earlier, and now they've stopped the game again. Steelers are in trouble - down 17-3 to Arizona, and Pickett is out with an ankle injury.
Tennessee Titans punter was hurt during their game, so Nick Folk came in to punt. Result: 40 yards, no return.
Eagles fans are booing their 10-1 team when they are down 8 going into the half, which they are 5-0 when trailing. Talk about the most ungrateful fanbase in sports.....
Sure... they can score points. But do they have a guaranteed first ballot Hall of Famer on their roster? No.
Garoppolo going to the Raiders and getting benched shows that playing for the 49ers inflates your numbers. Purdy wouldn't be leading the league in passer rating if he played for many other teams. But Purdy is much better in SF than Garoppolo was, so it seems like he really is a top 10 if not top 5 QB.
Another dreadful experience watching the Jets offense yesterday, but I take some solace knowing Patriot fans had to try and endure an even worse game. Enjoying other fan bases misery is definitely a dirt bag move, but it's all I got right now.
