Season opener for the Jets. 1 PM game. Expectations are high. Most likely our QB will be Flacco against his old team. Like we did last year, we will add a Poll to each Pre-game thread about the winner. I am becoming a darksider like my boss @Cman65 . Gotta go with Ravens on this one but I hope Jets can surprise us with a convincing win against the Ravens.
I hope Flacco at least pretends to be interested in playing against his old mates. He looked bored today. The OLine better show up or Joe might be sitting his 37yo butt on the bench in pain. The offense looked uninspired as well until SuperSub Streveler came in to save the day AGAIN.
Opening day generally doesn’t go well in Jets World. I’m sure we’ll lose, but I’m hoping for a non-embarrassing, competitive game. Pretty sure I’ll be disappointed even with that, but….
I think we will keep it real close and lose by a FG in the end. I don’t really see 3 TD loss happening
I expect us to win. If we lose it better be because young players are still developing. Contrary to what some people will tell you, the rebuild is over. Its time to win or cut bait.
This defensive scheme is tailor made for Lamar Jackson to tear up. The way to beat him is by blitzing. In his MVP season defenses tried to contain him with a "spy". Following that seson, they started blitzing and his game suffered significantly. The league figured him out. The Jets, of course, don't blitz, instead trying to get pressure with the front four. That is not a winning formula against the Ravens.
I just want the defense to show up. That's really key for the first few weeks. This team is not geared to play from behind.
The rebuild isn’t over ….. a lot of pieces have been put into place but OL is not quite there yet and Wilson still has a lot of growing to do. The Jets need another decent offseason but they’re getting closer. The 2022 rookies need some time to gel….
I cant go into week 1 not feeling like we can win. With 7 top 35 picks and 130 million in FAs over the last two years we got a lot of moving parts, but IMO if it pans out we can beat Baltimore at home.
*in my dreams* Lamar Jackson drifts out of the pocket, adroitly slips a would-be Jet defender.......reverses field..........and heads straight into.....'BOOM!'.... Micheal Clemons..... ...... ...%$#&!@#$%!.......%$#&!@#$%!.........%$#&!@#$%!.....z-z-z-z-z.... "Good evening and welcome to Sportscenter. . We begin our broadcast this evening with some sad and shocking news out of East Rutherford, New Jersey...."
We gonna shock the world lol. Nah, Ravens have some key RB's back and a healthy Lamar with a tough D. I'm hoping we make it competitive and see improvements on all levels. I'm interested to see how Saleh and LaFleur have grown since last season.
Ravens are beatable but this is a poor matchup. Alternatively, if Streveler starts, we win by 21 points.
We haven't won a game in September since Darnolds rookie year. The streak continues week 1 unfortunately.
I have a hard time seeing us containing the Ravens running game, LJ running from the pocket and Andrews. I see us also having difficulty running the ball and protecting Flacco. We could easily lose by 3 TDS or keep it close. The Ravens are still a very good team who is a very tough match-up for our defense. I lean towards losing by 2+ TDS.
I went with the Ravens but I think this one will be close. If the OL can figure it out in the run game, we might have a shot but with this being their first time going against 1's together, I'm expecting some struggles. I'll go 27-21 Ravens.
This match up is not only about the players. Reason I am so pessimistic about this game is John Harbaugh and Ravens coaching staff being superior to Saleh and our coaches. Harbaugh is a professor compared to our Rah Rah guy Saleh and even if we pull of a great first half, after the adjustments, Ravens will shut our offense and score on us in second half.
John Harbaugh is 10-4 on opening day including big wins in recent years like 47-3 (vs. Buffalo 2018), 59-10 (@Miami 2019), and 38-6 (vs. Cleveland 2020). the Ravens will be well prepared
I feel like this is just an all-around bad matchup for the Jets. I'd be surprised if we keep it within 17 points.
