I thought this could be a fun idea since we have reached the Off-Season. Make a BOLD PREDICTION that you think Joe Douglas and the Jets will do in the next few months and then we will check back after Free Agency and the Draft to see if anyone got anything right. You can be as bold and ridiculous as you want, but try to only guess what you think really could happen. We have seen some crazy things in the NFL, so you never know! I'll go first: I think the Jets will TRADE up into the 1st Round and have 3 1st Round picks in 2022. They will use their third 1st Round pick they traded up for on Trey McBride, TE from Colorado State. What is yours?
Oh man, I'd love McBride but I hate the idea of trading up. Predictions are tricky but I'll guess JD bucks his usual trend and spends big in FA. His seat is getting warmer, he may not get another FA period after this one if the team is bad next year. I think he'll also have some regrets from last FA fresh in his mind and he won't want to be overly conservative again.
Here's some fringe stuff. (1) The Jets will re-sign Maye, Joyner, AND sign a top-five FA safety. (2) The Jets will sign two top-ten FA tight ends AND draft a TE. (3) The Jets will not draft any offensive linemen with any of their top-40 picks. (4) The Jets will trade Mims for Reagor (PHI). (5) The Jets will trade a QB instead of signing a veteran backup.
Check out the thread I just posted with market values for FAs at our positions of need, and the names I've seen most often here and on Jets Twitter. JD may not be able to be as agressive as we all want.
That is BOLD! I could definitely see that happening. Especially if Douglas wants a WR or OL. These are some good ones! Nice work!
JD will trade down with Denver to #9. The Jets will receive both of Denver's 2nd round picks and one 3rd round pick this year. With the #9 pick, JD takes Icky Eckwonu OT who suprisinginly is still there. At #10, he takes Nakobe Dean. He uses Carolina's #2 and Denver's 3rd round pick to trade back into the 1st round to #15 and takes Treylon Burks. With the three 2nd round picks, he takes TE Trey McBride, Edge Arnold Ebikitie, and S Lewis Cine.
Pick #4 gets traded down 3-4 spots which they use for Kyle Hamilton. They get back a second rounder in the 55 - 60 range or get two picks in the top half of the third round.
We trade Quinnen Williams right before the 2022 draft for 2 first rounders (1 in 2022 and 1 in 2023) & other picks.
The team that makes that trade will be beyond BOLD! I'd love this. I feel like he will stay in Green Bay, but who knows? Rodgers could leave, then he will want to. You'd think they would franchise tag him though. I could definitely see that happening. Some people don't want to draft a safety after Adams, but Hamilton is legit. Maybe after next season, but certainly not in May. Although Mac was fired around then.
My bold prediction is that the Jets make absolutely no bold moves at all. They sign a few of the #3/4 guys available in FA and maybe a #2 one. There are no picks for players trades in or out and the only draft order moves are day 3 ones. TGG goes nuclear (okay, that's the most un-bold prediction ever) but the team looks much improved come September.
