We kicked some Bengal but and looked good on offense while doing it. Mike White made the history and I for one, will wait to see if the offense we saw today can repeat what they did against a good Colts team on the road on a short break. Game is on Thursday night, Colts had a tough loss today at home against the Titans but I am sure they won't overlook us like the Bengals did. 10.5 road dogs. Colts will make us throw the ball down the field. They won’t let us dink and dunk all day like Cinci did today.
I think Mike White comes back down to Earth Thursday. Indy will take away the short, quick passing game and make us attack vertically.
I thought we'd be +7... Be interesting to see how we scheme this one up. We'll score points but I don't think our defense is up to snuff. Colts-28 Jets-23
There are a few reasons I don't expect a win on Thursday. 1. This team has a tendency to follow up big upset wins with a loss. 2. The Colts will probably look to take away the short stuff and make White beat them deep. 3. The home team usually wins on Thursday Night. But, at least come out looking prepared and ready to play like today.
I saw a few min of the post-game show, and I thought Leger Douzable made an interesting point. Paraphrasing, but he said that it's probably a good thing to have the short week coming off of today's big win, because it means the team needs to jump right into preparation and won't be able to take a lot of time to 'read their own press clippings'. I sort of agree, because as mentioned above, the Jets are usually prone to letdowns after days like today.
Yep, also Indy needs to take a look back to see what went wrong for them today before they plan how to shut down the new juggernaut that was born today.
I say bring it on..every Team is going to try to take away whatever you do best and we have these short passes. But what's different now is that Carter and Johnson gives us a bit of a run threat We have beaten 2 excellent Teams>>>the Titans and now the Bengals. So I don't think NYJs will be intimidated by any team going forward. We are also getting some stops on Defense that have been fairly consistent even with all the Losses. The Offense obviously now has a spark The problem is we CANT play on the road..and I really have zero confidence in this CS getting us prepared for back to back good performances. Hope I am wrong
funny... the way people say "they'll take away" this that or the other... as if all nfl teams can simply decide to do what they wish
Picked the Jets. Probably just riding high after yesterday's win and will most likely change my vote before Thursday. I do think this is a winnable game though. If the Jets can capitalize on some or most of Wentz' bone-headed plays that he makes every single week, I think we can pull off another stunner.
Going to be very interesting to see how Mike White follows this up because like almost everyone has said, Indy can and will take away the short game. Darius Leonard will get to the ball a whole lot quicker than whoever was playing the middle yesterday. And the Indy DL is much better up the middle than Cincy's. Colts will make White beat them deep and that's not great when you read White's scouting report from college where they talk about how he tries to beat good protection with a strong arm, locks on to his first read and doesn't handle pressure well. Not expecting a win, but I just want to look competent.
That's the thing we can hope for. Carson has a tendency to chuck it up and hang in there a little longer than he needs to. If we can force him to pass the ball and bring some pressure, we could get some cheap turnovers. Have to capitalize though. Need to get an early lead in this one and play some keepaway. That being said, I expect a let down.
Meanwhile: I do think that's a product of trying to take the long ball away from other teams when you look at their opponents this year (Seahawks, Rams, Titans, Niners) and they will gameplan specifically for us, but who knows, maybe we'll squeak one out with the same plan of attack.
The Colts aren't world beaters. They are only a half game ahead of us. But recent history suggests yesterdays win only existed to make Thursday loss that much more humiliating. As long as we don't get embarrassed I can live with it. At this stage, showing some progress means not being embarrassed immediately after a big win. So please show some progress.
Please. If it's not too much to ask. I can't deal with another long list of buddy's texting me how much the Jets suck and how I should switch team. Don't people know it doesn't work that way??
That's all I want on Thursday night tbh. Just look like a competent football team and I'll be fairly happy, win or lose.
While everyone is keying on whether our offensive can put up numbers... I'm more concerned with our porous defense. We're giving up 30 points per game and are ranked near or at the bottom. We don't have the firepower to win shootouts... the defense needs to play much better to give us a chance in these games.
