Barkley's going to be one of those best that never was stories with a combination of injuries (I'm sure one more is coming), being on a trash offense and just not being able to do what he did in college in the NFL.
At this point he's Chris Davis circa 2018 or Joey Gallo since the Yankees traded for him. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/d/davisch02.shtml
WFT misses the 48 yard FG attempt as time runs out, but Giants are offside. Retry at 43 yards is good, and the Giants snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
The Giants are such a joke and the league is so desperate for them to be good. I'm so sick of Joe Judge's complaining about everything these days too. Sour taste in my mouth after he whined about missing the playoffs at 6-10 and it continues into his sideline complaining. On a good note, the league has started out with 3/4 fantastic prime time games. Most of them were garbage last year.
Joe Judge is an awful head coach. His team is incredibly undisciplined. Judge used a timeout after a TD, his LT false started after a timeout, and they had 13 men on the field after a timeout. To top it all off, he specializes in special teams and THEY WENT OFFSIDES. It's unbelievable really.
So basically other than the long run he was in the negative......he hasn’t looked right since the injury. I really hope he gets back to full strength I hate to see that happen to good young players .....
my recollection was that his rookie year was like that too... tons of 1-3 yds, then BOOm a 50 yder.... just with 2-3x as many touches
Don't forget last week. Other than the 41 yard run, so far this season he has had 22 rushes for 42 yards. He also has 3 receptions for 13 yards. The numbers are stark, but the eye test tells you all you need to know - so far he has looked terrible. He has always been like Barry Sanders, with lots of low yardage runs and some big hits, but instead of 10 big hits in a game, these days it's 0 or 1. Maybe he'll get some of it back, but it's just as likely that he won't. This is why you never draft a running back second overall.
Barkley has been that way his entire career. -1, 1, -2, 0, 4, BOOM! 57 TD. He dances way too much behind the LOS and the hole is closed before he can hit it. His running style and dancing behind the LOS reminds me so much of LeVeon. They need a good OL to hold their blocks for a little longer and then hit the hole. Barkley just has way more explosiveness when he actually does get to the 2nd level. So many Giants fans that I know want to partially clean house (GM + Jones) but keep Judge because they like his style. How can anyone like this dude? We watched HC be pushed on GMs for 10 years. That shit doesn't work. Mind boggling
Barkley won Offensive rookie of the year rushing for 1300 yards. Backed it up with another 1000 yard rushing season, he was injured his third year otherwise he would have rushed for another 1000 yard season. We know there is a nervousness that comes with getting back from an injury at that level. He will rush for another 1000 yard season this year once he gets over the fear of getting injured again. The giant better hope Garret uses Barkley like the weapon he is otherwise Garret will be shipped out with Judge and Gettleman. There are few RBs that can take it to the end zone every time they touch the ball and he is one of them. Giants have to continue to give him touches, 13 rushing attempts is embarrassing, Giants staff is asking to be fired.
I seem to recall some talk during the draft run up about his college career being like that too. Lots of uninspiring runs for limited yards and then takes it to the house from 80 yards. There were some on here questioning how he would do in the NFL as a result I think. I might be wrong though.
He was so good that rookie year as a receiver. It's crazy that they don't line him up wide or motion him out to get a backer out there with him. He's such a mismatch and get him 1 on 1 in the open field, forget about it. Such terrible coaching by Garrett.
