After seeing him go from Teddy Checkdown to Teddy Touchdowns, I'm strongly shifting some support to hiring Joe Brady as our head coach. This offense is so multiple and the playcalling is fantastic.
I’m impressed with Rhule. He is gutsy, clever, puts his players in the best position to succeed. He is an awesome NFL coach in the making, plus he knows how to pick a top notch CS. All the reasons our moronic owner and previous GM apparently used not to hire him.
I'm not convinced that MM wanted to pick some of the staff and that is what led Rhule to withdraw. But I firmly believe that any coach, even a rookie coach from college, should have the right to choose who he wants on his staff. If a veteran NFL GM wants to help him out by providing names, great...but ultimately it has to be the HC's choice.
Atlanta winning would be nice....they would take a QB very early and/or at #1 and move on from Ryan. Let them win a few games and separate from our Jets.
Yessssss Atlanta improving to 2 wins will 100% eliminate them from the #1 pick. Looking like a great Thursday Night for us Jet fans!!!
I wasn't that impressed with him last night. He got way worse as the game went on. He also had a few Gase moments: 1) Teddy comes in after being hurt, 2nd and 10, and they come out in empty. Literally reminded me of Darnold coming back in vs Denver and they come out throwing and he gets sacked. 2) Stop with the cute tricks of lining up Samuels in the backfield in shotgun. They never throw out of that formation so everyone and their mothers know its a run on 3rd and 5 with Samuels. (They ran the same play for a touchdown early in the game. Run something off of that play, don't just hand it off.) 3) 4th and 1 early in the game and they run stretch with Mike Davis? You have a mobile QB. Read option or pound it up the gut, not a stretch zone. 4) It was at the end of the 3rd Q or the early 4th/mid 4th (I was dozing on the couch so I don't really remember 100%), but Mike Davis ripped off two runs for like 20 total yards. They legit stopped giving him the ball on that drive. For what reason? Let's go away from something that was working on that drive.. mind boggling. Obviously one game isn't the be all, end all, but just from what I saw last night there were some moments that had me scratching my head. They lost arguably the best offensive player in the league and didn't miss a beat offensively since week 2/3 so gotta give credit where credit is due.
You're absolutely right. And I made myself look silly after the first two drives. The playcalling was suspect the rest of the game and he responded with heavy pressure on Teddy with the spread em out strategy. I didn't like either first down call but I can live with the first read-option one. The second stretch play was bizarre. A defense that was getting penetration all night and you run a long developing play on 4th and short.
After an exceedingly mediocre game Newton with the crushing fumble, and the Pats will lose. (Allen was worse, by the way.) Is anyone still suggesting that BB is any kind of a decent GM these days? When was the last time they drafted or signed someone who was any good?
