I don't usually start these threads but I've only just noticed what game is on for Thursday Night Football. Mia-Jax should be buried somewhere before breakfast on Tuesday. Play it in Honolulu or somewhere.
Even watching these two teams play is like watching a different sport when compared to the Jets. It's laughable at this point
Too bad the wheels came off in week 17. One of the most fun seasons I can remember right up there with 2004.
I can't say I understand it, but Josh Allen is playing ridiculously better than he did in his first two seasons. There is absolutely no comparison between him and Darnold now - Allen is by far in the top 2 QBs from that class, and he is less likely to get killed than is Lamar Jackson.
Allen had the highest ceiling in that QB class and the Bills have done everything they can to build around him. He's closing the gap between himself and Jackson.
He had 9 TDs and over 500 yards on the ground last year, making him I believe the 2nd or 3rd best rushing QB in the league. The thought was that his rushing #s would regress this year with the addition of Stefon Diggs, but I am not so sure. Their WR core is so strong right now with Diggs, Brown, and Beasley that I think he will top last years numbers as a rusher and as a passer as well. The threat of the passing game is just going to open up so many lanes for him.
Peters who some thought could have done a job for us at LT or RT has been atrocious today and Wentz should have been sacked 3 times at least, he shrugged off two sack attempts and got away but Peters was easily shifted out of the way.
As I watch Red Zone today, what strikes me most aren't the exceptional plays, but the more routinely successful ones. Quarterbacks hitting receivers in stride, putting the ball where only receivers can get it, quarterbacks getting enough time to go through progressions with a clean pocket because the offensive line is simply imposing their will on the opposition, wide receivers using their speed or their bodies to get open and then getting hit for first downs, running backs accelerating as they hit a hole, using a stiff-arm to knock down a defender, tight ends finding empty space 8 yards past the line of scrimmage and quarterbacks hitting them for first downs. Defensive lines getting pressure on quarterbacks, leading to happy feet and missed completions, defensive backs staying with receivers and breaking up or intercepting passes, defensive linemen filling holes before they can even form, linebackers passing off to safeties and safeties passing off to cornerbacks without leaving people wide open. It is absolutely staggering just how bad the Jets have been in the last two games in every facet of the game. It is difficult not to feel that this is just hopeless.
