I wish one of them was on the other side of the bracket so we could have a Gonzaga-South Carolina final
What's funny is as a a kid growing up I rooted for unc just cuz I hated duke. Duke was the team in the 90s every fair weather kid would hop on and cheer for. Junc had the ability through his unwavering douchebaggery and blindness to make me hate unc almost as much as I hate duke
I don't like Duke at all, but I absolutely hate UNC. Three of UNCs titles were won as a result of gifts handed to them, whether it was Webber being unable to count, Fred Brown's pass to James Worthy, or Tom O'Neil's Phantom travel call on Allen Ray in 2006.
UConn lost for the first time in years. Very stupid decision by UConn player with 15 seconds left in OT. Rather than hold for last shot, she took it out of control to the basket MSST then got the ball and hit a buzzer beater
South Carolina whacked Karnowski in the face, no foul call he's now on the bench having trouble with vision out of his right eye.
Congrats to Gonzaga. After the Zags blew a 14 point lead in the second half, I thought they were done. They managed to hang on and scramble their way to a win. Oregon vs North Carolina should be a good game.
UNC missed 4 free throws in a row at the end but Oregon couldn't get a rebound so they lost by a point. Not helping was the refs fouling out Brooks on a blown call.
Gonzaga vs Carolina should be a good match-up. Mississippi State vs South Carolina in the women's final tomorrow night should be a good game.
Proud of Oregon. Lost one of their best players and still made the FF. Pac-12 team hasn't done that in 9 years.
South Carolina beat Mississippi State 67 - 55 in the women's final. I'm glad to see somebody besides UConn win the title. It;s good for women's basketball that UConn lost.
Gonzaga vs. Carolina. My absolute NIGHTMARE of a final come true... Small price to pay for a title though.
Rooting for Gonzaga. Committee goes out of their way every year to screw the smaller schools with seeding and matchups. Be nice to see one of them win it. Especially when they're up against a program like UNC, which not only has massive resources, but has also likely cheated more than any other athletics program in recent history. It'd be interesting to compare Gonzaga's enrollment with UNC's, as well as the budget for the basketball programs.
budget-wise its not so much of a mismatch anymore, Gonzaga spends $7.2 mil annually on their program and UNC spends $8.6 annually. But that's only because Gonzaga has built themselves up nicely. 10 years ago those figures would be much different. Part of Gonzaga's success is because they bet big on basketball at a time when it was a bold gamble for the university financially and their success has allowed them to keep building it... (and the WCC is one of the most team friendly conferences in terms of less shared revenues and more allowing individuals to keep their NCAA unit money) but I agree completely that the committee goes out of their way to screw teams like Gonzaga, UNC are epic cheaters, and the enrollment comparison is no contest as well.
You do realize that this team that you are claiming gets screwed every year just had the easiest path to the NCAA finals in Tournament History since they switched to 64 teams?
