    Cut:
    Mark Sanchez- Savings 8.3 M
    Santanio Holmes- Savings 8.25 M
    Total Savings- 16.5 M

Total Estimated Cap Space- 40 M

    Restructure:

    Muhammad Wilkerson- 5 year 45M
Need to lock up one of the best defensive players in the NFL. This contact keeps his salary cap $ at 9M per year well above average for his position

    Re-signing

    Austin Howard- 3 year 10 M
Howard is an above average RT in the NFL and 3M per year is a fair contact for him considering the low averages of RTs in the NFL currently

    Willie Colon- 2 year 5M
Colon has been good but his injury history still scares me, hence the short term contract. This contract will allow him to lock up the RG position until Campbell fully grasps the position

    Jeff Cumberland- 2 year 4M
Poor blocker but improving pass catcher he has lots of room for growth still but he has a good chemistry Geno and should be retained

    Calvin Pace- 1 year 1.5M
Experienced in the system and a good Vet filler while a Rookie gains experience

    Total Cap space left- 22.7

    Free Agency

    Jarius Byrd- 4 year 30M
He missed a large portion of the season thus far and hasn’t been preforming to usual standards so his value drops, but he remains one of the top FS in the NFL. He will end the issues the Jets have been having covering TEs and will allow Allen to move back to SS and split time with Landry while he continues to learn . at 7.5M a year this is a great move.

    Jeremy Maclin- 2 year 10M
Coming off an ACL tear his value drops a lot but he needs to be in a prove it contract and what better way to prove his value then under the offensive coordinator whom he’s had so much success under. Maclin will take the pressure off a rookie and can replace Hill if he continues to disappoint

    Cap space left- Approximately 10.2M

    Draft

    1st Round- Marqise Lee WR
I feel the Jets will draft between 15-20. He would have been drafted higher last year but and injury slowed him this year and its very lucky for us.

Trade- Jets 2nd and Jets 3rd to Bucs for Bucs 2nd (Jets have the Bucs 3rd and they really need help in lots of positions so getting the extra pick will be very necessary for them)

Bucs 2nd round- Trent Murphy OLB
My favorite player in the draft. A massive OLB who can power and speed rush very well as well as dominate in the run game. He will complete the best front 7 in the NFL and him and couples will create havoc with blocking passes (both 6’6)

    Bucs 3rd C.J Fiedorowicz TE
6’7 TE who is a stellar blocker and excellent red zone target. Will be an excellent complement to Cumberland

    4th round Dri Archer WR/RB/KR/PR
Offensive weapon similar to Sproles and very necessary in the west coast offense. Been injured this year accompanied with his small stature drops him to the 4th, excellent value pick

    5th Prince Shembo LB
currently an OLB but it’s my hopes with his size and intelligence he can improve into a solid flex LB at both ILB and OLB and potential replacement for Harris at some point

    6th Michael Dyer RB
Major reason Auborn won a national championship but he has run into some off the field issues and has bounced around since then. He’s currently playing for Louisville and shows he may still have it but is buried on the depth chart. Worth a late round pick

    7th Ethan Hemer DE
Depth pick for a position that only has 3 players occupying 2 full time spots.

    2014 Roster

    QB: Smith, Simms, Gerrard
    RB: Ivory, Powell, Archer, Dyer
    FB: Bohanon
WR: Maclin, Lee, Hill, Kerley, Nelson
    TE: Cumberland, Fiedorowicz, Sudfeld
    T: Ferguson, Howard, Aboushi
    G: Winters, Colon, Campbell
    C: Mangold, Schlauderaff
    DE: Wilkerson, Richardson, Douzable, Hemer
    NT: Snacks, Ellis
OLB: Coples, Murphy, Pace, McIntyre, Shembo
    ILB: Harris, Davis, Bellore, Mauga
CB: Cromartie, Milliner, Wilson, Walls, Trufant
    FS: Byrd, Bush
    SS: Landry, Allen, Jarrett

I like the draft a lot and the signings. I would want to go o-line in the 3rd or 4th round instead

Not sure about Macklin. I would rather have Emanuel Sanders. I like Lee in the first round. the Jets need speed.

I like Lee in the first.

Don't like Byrd or Maclin. We need to develop our own talent. How are we going to pay Richardson, Coples, Davis, Geno, and hopefully Milliner if we're paying UFAS?

Don't like trading up. Don't really love CJ in the third.

Dyer won't last till the 6th.

Bird wont sign for less then 12M and i dont like trading up rather have two third rounds and 1 second your players are good trough the draft. But looks a bit to agressive for a team with a past like ours.

In 2015 the Jets will have an additional 7M of dead money coming off the books from cutting Holmes and Sanchez as well as 22M from the expiration of 2 terrible contracts (Harris and Cromartie) thats a total of almost 30M to resign your own players in the future, 2 of which will not make near the $ they did in their previous contract

Dyer probably will last to the 6th IMO. Take a look at his stats over the past 2 games (1 carry for 3 yards). They are so poor because he has been benched and buried on the depth chart that plus his off the field issues it would not surprise me at all if he drops

I can understand not want to trade up but Murphy is 100% worth it IMO. Dudes the 2nd best OLB in the draft (behind Barr) and only drops to the 2nd because of a relatively slow 40 (4.8). This guy is the missing piece to make this front 7 the best in the NFL

I disagree about Byrd look at the top safety contracts in the NFL:

    Polamalu 9.8M per year
Berry 8.3M per year (part of the old rookie wage scale)
    Goldson 8.25M per year
    Weddle 8M per year
    Byrd 7.5

This would make Byrd the 5th highest paid safety in the NFL a fair contract for a player coming off an injury and a down season, but was previous a top 3 NFL safety

I don't like the trade in the second and don't want Byrd. I do like most of the players you selected though.

12M?? No way that would surpass the previous highest paid safety contracts by a lot, and while he is a very good player, not only is he dealing with a significant foot injury, but he has proved to be a big time malcontent for the Bills

In addition to Wilkerson, I think we should lock Kerley up for a reasonable contract. No idea if this is accurate, because I haven't looked at comparable contracts, but something along the lines of 4 years for $17M ($4.25/yr)

The one contract I remember is Amendola getting 5 years for $31 million ($6.2/yr), and he was more established

My guess is that contract is way over paying for Kerley. He's a 3rd WR. I would think somewhere between 2-3 mil a year.

My original thought was $15M/4yrs, which would be $3.75M/year, but WRs tend to be overpaid

I would absolutely love it if this happened, although god damn do we need a pass rushing OLB! We have to atleast use a high pick on one, but Geno needs some damn weapons and we need help in the secondary, I love Maclin so much would love to have him
