Serena crushed Schiavone, love & 1. Btw, wtf is with Lenny Kravitz, that petulant posseur? Kravitz' next "non-lifted" original musical idea will be his first.
No US man makes it to week 2. US men's single tennis future looks really weak, US women's tennis future much better. Bryan Bros won today, trying to complete calender slam by winning US open. Men's round of 16 matchups set.
I said earlier this year, I don't think Federer will be winning majors anymore. He can still win smaller tournaments, but his days of winning majors are over, IMO. Raonic/Gasquet locked in a battle in the fifth.
At this point Federer might not even be the best SWISS player in the world...Wawrienka upsets Murray in the quarters. Probably going to wind up being a Djokovic-Nadal final now.
They wanted a day between the semis and finals so they pushed the men's final to Monday (it used to be Sunday, no break). In the past, they've sometimes had to play on Monday due to rain, but it wasn't planned. I don't really like holding the final at 5 PM on a Monday.
I was thinking about it but then I realized how close it is to the match and it overlaps with MNF but ok I'll post if you want it
Too late, I already posted http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=78715 no one will bet on it but me, lol. The usual
Nice win by Serena yesterday over the howler monkey Azarenka whose serve is a joke for a woman nearly 6-feet tall. Rafa the slight edge this evening over Djoko imho.
I was digging for information because some fool was arguing that Nadal's past head to heads* vs. Djokovic don't mean anything because Nadal is always injured and not 100%. Complete nonsense, because Nadal was not injured in a single one of those tournaments. He breezed by the lesser competition without an issue. The last time Nadal and Djokovic played in the US Open (2011 finals), Nadal had beaten Roddick and Murray handily to reach the finals. In fact, he had only lost one set the entire tournament entering the final. How many sets has Djokovic lost this tournament? Three. How many sets did Djokovic lose in 2011 before the final? You guessed it. Three. This year, Djokovic is coming off a grueling five setter in the semis. In 2011, Djokovic was also coming off a grueling five setter in the semis, having dropped the first two sets to Federer before coming back. *Djokovic 11-5 vs. Nadal on hard courts, 1-1 in the US Open
I am surprised that Dcjokovic isn't favored. Everyone is expecting a Nadal win. To me, Djoker is still the favorite tonight but Nadal is a beast at times. Let's watch and see.
This year, Nadal has also only lost one set the entire tournament entering the final. Forgot to mention. Eerie parallels.
That sounds like something the announcers would say. Yesterday whenever Serena struggled "man that wind is really kicking up out here, it's hard for her to play". Whenver Serena was cruising, no mention of the wind. It's like the wind was only on Serena's half of the court according to the announcers. I favor Djokovic slightly too going into this match. I still don't see Nadal being as effective on hard court as he is on "Grass" and clay. Even though he rolled through the summer hard court tournaments, I still give a slight edge to Djokovic. Shame we couldn't get a Fed/Nadal match here
Brad gilbert I think mentioned this, not sure if it's true. But Nadal likes to have his water bottles all lined up in the same direction and when changing sides, he always lets the opponent go first. Gilbert being Gilbert said he;s waiting for a player to mess with Nadal and wait him out at the net or "accidently" knock his water bottles over. What a lob by Novak
