I don't watch much NCAA ball these days (work all day saturday, so I can have off Sunday) but what does the talent (quantity and quality) look like at the LB position? The JETS are going to need to overhaul this unit, and I'd like to hope it's by selecting the bpa and not just reaching for need....... I also think an OLineman is a BIG need, and another receiver so we can let Holmes go as soon as cap restrictions (or lack of) warrant it..
I mean you cant start with talking about linebackers without talking about Jarvis Jones. Kid is a monster In terms of the overall class it looks really deep at both inside and outside linebacker
Jarvis Jones is simply just a special player, he is going to be one of the best OLB's in the NFL in a few years. T'eo is also a man amongst boys. In reality though, if the Jets even go 8-8 or 9-7, neither will be in our drafting range. And besides, I expect at least a playoff run, so the chances of either being available for the Jets are slim to none. At OLB, Chase Thomas from Stanford is a player I like. I see him being drafted in the 20-30 range, he is the type of player that we we could use and could be available. He is similar to Shea McClellin who was drafted by the Bears last year. Otherwise, a solid but not spectacular OLB class. At MLB, I really like Shayne Skov. There is something about these Stanford players that I really like. The class is solid, not spectacular. I also like Tom Wort a lot, although I don't think he fits a 3-4 unless he really bulks up. Michael Mauti from Penn State is my real sleeper in this class. The dude simply racks up tackles, you can always use a player like that. I wish he would be playing at a different school though.
He's the best all around LB in College football.....barring a major injury , he's going to be a stud in the NFL.
I love me some Damontre Moore and Jackson Jeffcoat as either 3/4 rush linebackers or 4/3 ends....Moore's a little more well rounded in regards to run defense ATM. Also a fan of Sean Porter also of A&M.. Having said that, Eric Reid in Rd. 1 por favor.
Agreed 1000x. He played a HELL of a game vs Michigan, 2 INTs, ton of QB pressures, great tackles. I thought maybe he'd be a top 15 lock when it was all said and done but he might lock himself into a top ten spot this draft and some lucky team will snatch him up. I thought maybe he'd fall to NYG but he's clearly playing out of their reach(And quite possibly the Jets too)
Manti Te'o was absolutely phenomenal today vs Michigan Jarvis Jones(too small for us) has been a stud all year Barkevious Mingo has the most upside due to his athleticism just needs weight to play in our 3-4 Sam Montgomery has a lower ceiling than Mingo both play for LSU but Montgomery seems more likely to have an immediate impact. I've got him coming to us in my current mock

of course. I think every casual fan would recognize those guys, but I don't think the JETS will have a shot at drafting them...... although the latest development may unfortunately put them in that range.
Bjoern Werner, high motor, intense, and he's white lol. I actually hate the fact it seems that when everyone asks for another Clay Matthews we can only compare him to another white guy ala Brooks Reed. But Bjoern might only be limited to a 43 team, havent seem him personally since i work all day Saturday but at 6'4 255 he should be able to make the move. As far other as OLBs Jarvis Jones as everyone has stated is a beast, Mingo athletically is supremely gifted, actually ran track in high school (now at 240). Sam Montgomery his LSU teammate is a top 10 talent. And Jackson Jeffcoat out of Texas, Corey Lemonier from Auburn all look at this point to be slotted in the 1st round.
If Manti Te'o is there at are selection im picking him over everyone except Jarvis Jones , i know we just drafted Davis, but he's cant miss and Mingo and Montgomery have struggled getting off to slow starts this year.
I really like hearing Jarvis Jones in local radio calls. Not only is he a hell of a player, but he's bright. We have too many dumb players we need a guy that understands football. I can see him becoming a big leader in the future. That said, playing in the SEC automatically makes him a higher draft pick and unless we tank we won't get him.
there is a bunch of great talent coming out next year at LB. Jarvis Jones Manti Te'o C.J. Mosley Barkevious Mingo (DE/OLB) Sam Montgomery Jackson Jeffcoat
