Sam Acho Duenta Williams DeAndre McDaniel One of these guys in the 4th round would be great for the Jets, imo.
Sam Acho DE/OLB Davon House CB Q Carter, S, Oklahoma Chris Ballard DE (Doubt we go DE again) Edmond Gates WR Luke Stocker TE Chimdi Chekwa CB Deunta Williams, S James Brewer, OT Deandre McDaniel, S Any would be a good choice
I'm fucking amped that we drafted two big ass defensive linemen. Finally Tannebaum and company have started to rebuild our front seven. Landing two high-motor tackles will be huge for us. The future is bright.
Gil Brandt seems to like this guy a lot: Edmond Gates might be small-school, but he has the potential to be big-time in the NFL. As if the Abilene Christian wide receiver’s performance at the NFL Scouting Combine last month hadn’t done enough for his draft stock, Gates put on a show once again in front of representatives from 22 teams at the school’s pro day on Monday held outdoors on FieldTurf. Gates (6 feet, 189 pounds) stood on his impressive combine 40-yard dash time of 4.37 seconds — which he did with a groin injury and was tied for tops in Indy among receivers — but re-did the broad jump, posting an 11-foot-2 mark better than his 10-11 jump at the combine, which was second among receivers. Gates also had a 4.13 short shuttle and a 6.82 3-cone drill. During his individual workout, Gates was outstanding, looking more advanced than Bears WR Johnny Knox, another Abilene Christian alum who was named to the Pro Bowl as a rookie in 2009 and has done pretty well for himself overall in the NFL. Gates is every bit as good as Knox, probably better based on what we’ve seen of him. The fact that 22 teams showed up to watch Gates work out tells you how good he is. It’s not like he was just an OK starter at a small school; he was a star. And he has backed it up in workouts. Knox’s success also gives credence to Gates’ ability. Knox was a fifth rounder. I’d say Gates is a third or fourth rounder. - Gil Brandt
I wouldnt. With those 10 guys on the board you would be happy with, plus Chris Carter and Bruce Miller, that gives us at least 12 guys on the board right now. Some of them will fall, I think we start to see a run on safties in the middle of the round... Lucky for us, I think Quinton Carter and Sands will go before either of Mcdaniel or Williams. So I think we are in a great spot. Can't wait to see what happens! 6 more minutes
Bruce Miller is a reach in Rd 4. If we move up it's for Acho or House, they're Mid/Late Rd 2 talents.
We're in a great position to sit back and take BPA. If Acho falls a bit, sure, trade up. Otherwise, our defense is already improved in a big way and we should be able to secure safety help with the depth available.
I don't think he is that late. I mean its a little early, but i have a 5th round grade on him, so i wouldnt be shocked to see him taken between our pick in the 4th and our pick in the 5th if we want him, I would take him in the 4th. But of your list of guys, Miller would be at the bottom for me. But some of those guys (if not all) are going to be drafted before we are picking in the 4th, so its not a bad idea to think about options.
This draft fucking rules so far. I want Edmond Gates, Deunta Williams, Sam Acho, Tyler Sash, Chris Carter, or DeAndre McDaniel today.
we are absolutely are. Can't wait to get this thing started. It's also nice to have a pick in each round...
Has James Brewer's ankle injuries really pushed him back this far? I would have thought he'd be off the board by now, starter quality...
I think its a safety that we go after today, I just see no more value in the OLB spot. I like Acho and Chris Carter but there's better safeties on the board.
