Sunday October 31, 2010 1:00 San Francisco 49ers vs. Denver Broncos – 49ers will look to Frank Gore (130.6 ypg from scrimmage) to lead the offense against the Broncos 30th ranked Run defense as they are starting 3rd string QB Troy Smith. Matchup between the two teams who faced each other in Super Bowl XXIV Washington Redskins vs. Detroit Lions – Matthew Stafford is expected to return for the Lions and could have a big day against the 31st ranked pass defense. Buffalo Bills vs. Kansas City Chiefs – The Chiefs’ No. 1 Rushing attack will look to exploit the Bills’ 32nd ranked rushing defense. Bills coach Chan Gailey was fired as the Offensive Coordinator of the Chiefs prior to the start of the 2009 season. Carolina Panthers vs. St. Louis Rams – The Rams will retire Isaac Bruce’s #80 during a pregame ceremony. The Rams will wear their 1999 jersey’s to honor Bruce. DeAngelo Williams is likely out of this game for the Panthers. Miami Dolphins vs. Cincinnati Bengals – Interesting stat I read – The Dolphins are 0-3 at home and 3-0 on the road. They are the first team to do that since the 1982 St. Louis Cardinals (according to the game capsule via STATS LLC) Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Dallas Cowboys – Life without Tony Romo begins for the Cowboys 4:00 Tennessee Titans vs. San Diego Chargers – Chargers are #1 team on offense and #1 team on defense in yards per game. Minnesota Vikings vs. New England Patriots – Brett Favre’s record setting consecutive start streak may end at 291 games. Randy Moss will make his return to Foxboro. Seattle Seahawks vs. Oakland Raiders – The Seahawks own the #2 Rushing Defense will go up against the Raiders who have the #2 Rushing Offense. Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Arizona Cardinals – Interesting note – Arizona’s Assistant Head Coach Russ Grimm will go up against his son Tampa Bay’s FS Cody Grimm 8:20 Pittsburgh Steelers vs. New Orleans Saints – The Saints are looking to rebound after an embarrassing loss to the Cleveland Browns where Drew Brees threw 4 interceptions (2 returned for TDs by David Bowens). Monday November 1, 2010 8:30 Houston Texans vs. Indianapolis Colts – The Colts will look to stop Arian Foster who ran for 231 yards against them in the opening week. Peyton Manning will make his 199th consecutive start which may be the longest current streak by the time he begins to suit up. Tony Dungy will be inducted into the Colts’ ring of honor at Halftime.
That would take amazing guts - if Favre can play at all it would be much easier to at least start him, thereby preserving the streak, and then pull him if he can't move. That then makes it easy to not start him next week.
A lot of bad games this week. The only ones I'd want to watch as a fan: Jets/Packers Saints/Steelers Colts/Texans Two are in primetime anyway, which is good. The only other one I could make a good case for would be Titans/Chargers. Having the Giants, Eagles, Falcons, and Ravens all on bye makes for a less compelling week.
I would have watched Redskins-Lions if the Jets were not playing at the same time. Seahawks-Raiders and Bucs-Cards are also interesting... to me, anyway.
I totally agree. That is the least appealing of the late afternoon games to me. If Jackson were to start or if Favre got pulled early, then I would watch that game. Yes, I think Minnesota could win with Jackson, but not with Favre. I certainly am not interested in watching the Patriots win a game. Bucs-Cards interests me because Josh Freeman is my new favorite QB and the Cards might slop their way to a division title this year. If Whisenhunt sticks with Derek Anderson and lets him air out the ball they might just be able to get to 8-8 or 9-7 and either of those records might be good enough to win the West. Titans-Chargers could be an excellent game. Going back to some of their battles of a few years ago, both teams truly hate each other. Seahawks-Raiders is interesting because both teams could win their divisions.
Yes, but only because both divisions are absolutely putrid. I'd be shocked if either division got a wild card and even more shocked if any team from either division made it to the Super Bowl.
I'm interested because its the Pats. Couldn't give a shit less about Bert. I'd be interested if it were the Pats vs. anyone because they are in our division.
If the Jets slip up and the Patriots don't and the Jets finish in second at 12-4 or 13-3, then they'll be at Kansas City or Oakland or San Diego in the first round. My point is that no matter how much those divisions may suck, those division races still matter as much as other ones.
The Cardinals finished that season 1-3 at home and 4-1 on the road. So they were 2.5 games better on the road than at home. Here are the teams that were at least a full 3 games better on the road than at home since 1950 (home record followed by road record)- 4.5 games better- 1961 Lions- 2-5, 6-0-1 4 games better- 1962 49ers- 1-6, 5-2 1980 Seahawks- 0-8, 4-4 1996 Oilers- 2-6, 6-2 2000 Saints- 3-5, 7-1 2001 Jets- 3-5, 7-1 2007 Giants- 3-5, 7-1 3.5 games better- 1982 49ers- 0-5, 3-1 3 games better- 1952 Giants- 2-4, 5-1 1956 Browns- 1-5, 4-2 1957 Cardinals- 0-6, 3-3 1963 Cardinals- 3-4, 6-1 1965 Vikings- 2-5, 5-2 1968 Bears- 2-5, 5-2 1974 Chiefs- 1-6, 4-3 1976 Chiefs- 1-6, 4-3 1983 Eagles- 1-7, 4-4 1983 Jets- 2-6, 5-3 1986 Lions- 1-7, 4-4 1986 Patriots- 4-4, 7-1 1994 Redskins- 0-8, 3-5 1997 Panthers- 2-6, 5-3 2001 Eagles- 4-4, 7-1 2002 Browns- 3-5, 6-2 2007 Panthers- 2-6, 5-3
Miami defender bobbles interception, then tips it to TO who gets a TD should've been a pick. As for Dallas, no one took them in my survivor pool, unfortunately. It's the only one I joined and it's down to three people. I took KC, and the other picks were St. Louis and the Jets.
