Which roster is better? Offensive OL 2010>2015 2010 was younger and better QB 2010=2015 Fitz or Geno could be better than sophomore Sanchez but who knows? RB 2010>2015 I'll take LT and a rookie Green over Ivory and Powell WR 2010>2015 Very close but I will take a prime Holmes, Braylon, and Cotchery over Decker and 31 year old Marshall TE 2010>2015 Amaro has upside but Keller was very good Note: OC Gailey>Schott Defense DL 2015>2010 I remember Pouha and guys like Marques Douglas and Shaun Ellis LB 2010>2015 Scott, Prime Harris, Prime Pace, and Bryan Thomas>Davis, 31 year old Harris, 33 year old Pace, and Coples/Babin DB 2015>2010 Obviously Revis and Cro were better 5 years ago, but the 2015 version wont include Eric Smith and Kyle Wilson
2010 team hands down. I truly believe we would've won against the Steelers if we had Kris Jenkins in the game. 2010 Offense was so much better. Remember we had LT and Shonn Greene (who wasn't so bad that year)as well. Sanchez stepped up from time to time with some 4th Quarter comebacks (after the defense couldn't hold the lead). When in sync, that offense could put up points against anyone. 2015 Defense will be MUCH better than 2010. This is why I feel we should go offense heavy in the draft and I'm against taking defense in the 1st round. What's the point of having an elite defense if the offense keeps going 3 and out. By 4th quarter time, the defense is worn out and the opposing team will start scoring on us. The 2010 team had balance because we had some weapons on offense. The 2015 team is almost there. We just need to add more offensive players.
def the 2010 team, the only thing that 2015 has better is the DLine. I would give one more year to really compare the team to 2010, this year's squad may have better talent and upside but who knows until they start showing it also HC Rex > Bowles (just because I havent watch Bowles coach yet)
To be determined really. If we draft a LB early it could rival the 2010 group. WR is close but Marshall is a better number 1 than Holmes was. Decker is a better 2 than Braylon. Cotch is way more consistent than Kerley But for anyone to say the 2015 team could be better or as good as the 2010 team would be to say that you expect us to atleast be in the title game next year. And I cant say that yet.
I think the end result is right. The 2010 team was ALOT better. Sanchez will probably have been better in 2010 than Geno will be in 2015. 2010 OL is better. I'd say 2015 WRs are better. RBs are kinda even (I think Jets will also draft a RB). TE I have to go with Keller. Note sure about OC yet. Defenses will probably be similar levels of talent. It really all boils down to QB play. If Whoever plays for QB in 2015 for the Jets (most likely Geno) does better than 2010 Mark Sanchez, I think they have a chance to be better (yet I don't think this means AFC Championship>>2010 team made it to the AFC Championship by a hair.
Exactly. There is a lot of guess work in this, but the one clear thing I disagree with OP with is the receiving. It seems our wr, and te play will be much better this year. I have faith Amaro will take leaps, while DK never solidified himself as 1st round worthy.
If this team is better then 2010 which the Jury is still out on,, I dont want to get to the AFC Game and win by a hair, I want a team to have the talent to win it. We need more offence and a WR and RB should help nicely.
QB- 2010 by far RB- even WR- even TE- 2010 OL- 2010 but not a huge margin DL- 2015 LB- 2010 DBs- 2010 K- 2015 P-2010 Coverage/returns- 2010 coaching- hard to say b/c we haven't seen Bowles so 2010 gets it for now. all of this could change, we could suck this year 2010 takes every category, we could be great this year and blow away every category from 2010 but this is how I see it as of now.
Keep in mind the 2009/2010 Jets barely made the 6th WC seed. Id say we stack up pretty good against our regular season teams. But then Sanchez and the Jets went on a mini-tear in both playoff runs, winning 4 road games including wins against Manning and Brady. THAT Jets team is lightyears ahead of 2015, for whatever reason.
QB: 2010. Fitz is a better player than Sanchez is, but Sanchez pulled a bunch of comebacks out of his ass that year and was money in the playoffs. It's hard to imagine whomever is starting for us this year performs any better than Mark did that year, especially in (if we make it) the playoffs. RB: 2010 currently. If Ivory stays healthy (big if) and we take a speed RB (Duke Johnson?) in the draft, it could easily be 2015, though. WR: 2015. The difference between Cotchery and Kerley (while big) does not make up for the difference between Marshall and Decker vs Holmes and Bray. Also keep in mind it's likely we add a day 2 WR into the mix in the draft. Dorsett+Kerley>2010 Cotch, IMO. TE: I personally think Keller was one of the most overrated Jets from that era. He ran okay routes, had literally zero YAC ability (remember his famous back spin "move"?) and couldn't block. I think what we'll see from Amaro this year will be far better than anything we saw from Keller. OL: 2010 easily. Mangold, Brick, and Moore were all playing at an All-Pro level. Woody was also playing at a Pro Bowl level. The only player we have playing on even a Pro Bowl level currently is Mangold. By far the biggest difference between the 2010 and 2015 team, and will be to blame if we struggle this year. DL: 2015 easily LB: Currently 2010 by a hair, but can change to 2015 if we take an OLB at 6, which I think is a very good possibility. 2010 Harris>2015 Harris, 2015 Davis>=2010 Bart, Coples>Thomas, 2010 Pace>Babin/2015 Pace but Fowler/Gregory/Beasley>>2010 Pace. SECONDARY: 2015. Revis and Cro may be a bit worse, but Skrine>>>Wilson and our current safeties in Pryor and Gilchrist blow Leonhard and Smith out of the water. K: 2015 P: 2010 Return game: 2010 If we have a good draft, I think we'll be better than the 2010 team in every area other than QB (which would be close either way) and OL. Unfortunately, those happen to be the two most important positions on the football team.
Depends on who we draft and how the rest of the off-season plays out. 2015 could be better if we play our cards right; there is a reason we went 6-10 in 2011. 2010 wasn't sustainable. Maybe 2015 can be.
Are people forgetting we just came off a 4-12 season? You want to compare the team to an AFCCG team after part of an offseason? c'mon man this is retarded but I can't say I'm surprised considering the source.
