So I'm just going off of the idea that Green Hurricane had last year when it comes to draft prospects. Like the original, this thread is designed to inform rather than debate but feel free to do what you want

For the newbies just post a prospect you like, position, senior or underclassman, post a picture (if you want) and some reason why you like them. It does not even have to be a position the Jets need, hell put long snappers if you want to.

His thread was started about the same time last year and since this place is dead I figure I do the same

    So Let's begin

    My prospect
    Charles Scott
    [IMG]
As an LSU fan I am biased, but I have to say Scott really impressed last year. Last year his breakout year he was by no imagination handed the job, he beat out Kielland Williams to be the starting back. The one feature I like about Scott is his ability to make yards after contact. Some runners use there size to break tackles. many backs are able to shed tacklers but Scott actually can drive through tacklers. He runs insanely hard. chances of making a clean open field tackle with this guy are slim. My only concerns are that he runs kind of high and he is not super fast, but other than that he looks like a great player

    Alex Carrington, DE, Arkansas St.

    6'5" 285LBs.

A player I have been talking about for many months.

A thread I started months ago in November:

    http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=37774

Being from a smaller school, Carrington is still relatively unknown, but if he builds on his senior year in which he was named the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the year recording 19 tackles for loss (TFLs) and 11.5 sacks, he could be a very early draft pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. Stats and info from Draftdog.

What helps Carrington in the eyes of NFL Scouts is his size. Big 6’ 5” 285+ pound defensive ends are hard to find. A player of that size is pretty versatile because he can play the defensive end position in a 34 defense.

Everson "The Quick" Griffen, DE/OLB, Southern Cal

Pound-for-pound, the most physically gifted athlete that I have ever seen. There are rumors that his 40 has been in the 4.3s this summer. At 6'3 265, Griffen is a terror off the edge. Now that he's a full time starter for SC, he should put up HUGE numbers.

Even if he has mediocre production, Griffen could still be considered a top ten pick...his measurables and potential are ridiculous.

    Thanks for the credit rhodesfan.

    RB Jonathan Dwyer, Georgia Tech

For my money, the best running back prospect since Adrian Peterson. Built about as strong as they come, with great speed and power. The only player in the nation that averaged 7 ypc with 200+ carries last year, and should be relied upon even more this season. Capable of running over defenders and running by them just as easily, I saw both first hand last year when he personally shellacked the Hurricanes for 10 carries, 128 yards and 2 TDs in the first half alone. He's a stud.

Couldn't agree more GH. Dwyer is an absolute monster.

    Damian Williams, WR, USC 6-1/190

One of the best route runners in College football. Smart intelligent player with a great work ethic. Really helps out his QB with comebacks and getting open when the QB is trouble. Not fast, but plays quick. Sanchez will lobby hard to get Williams in Green & White. Had nagging shoulder injury that has slowed him some, hopefully it's behind him. May never become a true # 1 WR.............but there really only a handful of #1 WRs in the NFL and something that IMO is overrated. I'll take Cotchery and Williams as my top 2 receivers any day!!

My frontrunner as the Jet's RD 1 selection in April.

Big fan of Damian Williams, reminds me a ton of Reggie Wayne. What you said is right on, not exactly sure if he's what people think of as a true #1 WR, but he should be incredibly effective. Good but not great in both size and speed, he has some great body control that makes up for it. I'd take him without hesitation in the first next year if he keeps progressing.

Kyle Wilson, CB, Boise State 5'10 190

Wilson is a legit NFL corner prospect. He has track speed, awesome agility, and big time play-making ability to be a starter at the next level.

    - Second team All-American and First team All-WAC

    - Elite return specialist on both punts and kicks: in 2008, he had a ridiculous punt return average with 14.2 yards per return and he took 3 back to the house.

    - Great in run support. One of those players that loves to throw his body around and make hits. On ten seperate occasions last season, Wilson delievered a well timed hit on a receiver and forced the incompletion.

    - Finds a way to get his hands on the ball, whether it's with a pass deflection (15) or an interception (5).

Kyle Wilson is my top rated mid-major prospect and it wouldn't surprise me to see him go late first, early second in 2010's draft.

Here's my Special Team player of the 2010's draft!!!

    LeRoy Vann, CB, Florida A&M

    Only 5'9" 180lbs

Returned 6 Punts or Kickoffs for TDs in 2008. CRAZY!!!!

I don't believe he will be a starter in the NFL, but could be a player in nickel/dime packages and be an outstanding Special Team player.

That's ridiculous. There's almost no way he can top that in 2009.

If I returned that many kicks/punts in a season, I'd enter the draft...even if I went to FAMU.

I heard he runs a consistent 4.37 to 4.39. Lets' see what he does in 2009, he may fall off big time. He's worth a shot in a later rd.

I've heard great reports on this kid who's from Jersey. I don't know why Wilson went to Boise St, I thought Penn State was looking at him a few years ago. Probably would be a solid Rd 1 pick if he went to the Big Ten or SEC. Should be a lock for Rd 2 around the same area Sean Smith was drafted.

    Zac Robinson, QB, Oklahoma State
    6'3" 215

I really like this QB. He threw for over 3000 yards and 25 TDs. I understand it was Oklahoma St, which throws the ball alot, but that was great production. Zac doesn't seem to make many dumb plays and looks poised.

Could be a player the Jets look at in Rd 4 or 5 for a solid back-up to Sanchez/Clemens. Lets' see how Zac performs in 2009 another year with Dez.

This is my special teamer as well, good to see that people know about him because despite his impressive stats and the glaring jersey colors he is pretty under the radar.

    Trindon Holliday
    [IMG]
    RB/WR/KR
    LSU
    Senior

    More LSU hype
Holliday has no real position. His main role is special teams but he can contribute as a receiver and out of the backfield. I won't say that he has an NFL skill set when it comes to a receiver or back. Even as a returner he is not fantastic. But what makes this guy even considered for the NFL is that he is the fastest man in college football. When this guy gets the ball look out, if you look up some of his videos on youtube he makes what would be an foot race into a huge TD break away. Even though he is tiny, he actually does a pretty good job on ball security. Frankly, I'm not even sure if he is going to declare he might just stick with track. But none the less he is senior and a player on a major football team.

Let's see if we can jumpstart this thread.

    Myron Lewis, S, Vanderbilt

Everyone is excited about Berry and Mays, rightfully so, but Lewis may be a nice addition to some team in rd 2 in 2010.

Lewis is 6'3' 200 lbs and is a real ballhawk. Played mostly CB at Vandy , but projects to be a Free Safety in the NFL. Doesn't have great speed, but is a smart player that goes after the rock and made 5 INTs last year.

2010 is a great year to get a top-flight safety. Like I said before, there may be 3 safeties drafted before the first CB.

    Right w/you WW85.

    Micah Johnson, ILB, Kentucky
    6-2 258 Sr.

    2008 All-SEC 1st team
    2009 Pre-Season Coaches All-SEC 2nd team.
Excellent 3-4 ILB prospect with the perfect size for the position.
High upside. Great athlete, very strong with a nose for the football.
If he can make it through this season injury free, he is a lock for the 2nd round – minimum.

    Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma 6' 6" 265lbs.

Hands down the best tight end in 2010's draft. If Gresham came out in 2009,he would have clearly been a 1st rd pick and IMO, drafted ahead of Pettigrew.

Gresham is probably one ofthe best TE talents coming into the draft in the last 5 years. Has the body to bulk up and needs to improve his blocking. Gresham has terrific hands and long arms and can do some damage after the catch.

IMO, could be the next great TE in the NFL and would be a nice addition to the Jet's offense. I know drafting a TE in Rd 1 would send most Jet fans off the edge, but trust me, Gresham will be a pro-Bowl player if he gets in the right system.

I still believe the Jets need to go WR in Rd 1.........but Gresham will make some team very happy!!!!

    DE/OLB Jason Worilds, Virginia Tech

One of, if not the most dangerous rising pass rusher in the country. The former Carteret High star had 62 tackles, 18.5 for loss and 8 sacks after dislocating his shoulder early in the year. He could be a monster of a 3-4 OLB at the next level, and I honestly think he'll finish up his career (this year or next) as a top 15 guy. BTW, his birth name is Jason Adjepong to the NJ HS football fans out there, but changed it in honor of his mother whose last name is Worilds.

Vince Oghobaase 6'6, 310 out of Duke. Would play DE in the 3-4.

A big time DT for a little known Duke program, notched 51 tackles, nine TFL and six sacks as a junior, was also an All-ACC Honorable mention. Look for him to have another big year, this time as a senior. What's even more impressive is the fact that he puts up those numbers on Duke, for a team where he is clearly the best defensive player and has opposing teams game planning for him and pretty much only him.
