Tim Lincecum, once again, looking like a STUD.

Check out this line from the last 7 days...

    Incredible.

He has suffered from a lack of run support this season, but with the post-Bonds Giants, that is not surprising. He is currently the league leader in Strike Outs, CG(tied at 3 with teammate Matt Cain), IP and Shut Outs (tied at 2 with Joel Pinerio). He is amoung the top 5 in OPBA, ERA, WHIP, Wins and Walks.

    Other Notables in the NL...
    Matt Cain - SF
    Yovanni Gallardo - Mil
    Chad Billingsly - LAD
    Yohan Santana - NYM

Lincecum is the clear favorite to repeat at this point, but his own teammate, Matt Cain, may be his biggest threat if things continue to shake out this way.

    In the AL...

It's a tight race early on betweeen KC's Zack Grienke and Toronto's Roy Halladay. Had Halladay not missed a few starts, he would probly be at 12 wins, leading the MLB. Combined with his low WHIP (1.05) and ERA (2.56), he appears to be the best bet.

A surprising candidate I have heard being tossed around is Boston's Tim Wakefield. Tim has been fantastic, simply put. He has never had a low ERA(4.32 career, 4.18 2009), but that fact that he is able to consistantly put his team in contention and has a few gems so far already this year has caught a few eyes.

    Other AL Notables...
    Felix Hernandez - SEA
    Justin Verlander - DET
    Kevin Millwood - TEX

What do you fellows thing of the early races? The Cy Young has always been my favorite award, as a dominating pitcher is so much fun to watch and is the key to a title.

Eh it is too early for me to pay attention, I remember when it was into August and we though Webb would be a lock and basically both Santana and Lincecum caught up to him

Well last year, Lincecum was pitching fantastic all year long, but because he didn't have the win total as Webb, he was an afterthought. Once people started looking at it solidly, Lincecum became the clear favorite, with Santana second.

Tim got off to a slow start this season but since mid-May has really fired it up. Santana is not benefitting at all from his awful team. You put Santana on a good team and he is probly right up near the top with Tim.

Well it helped Lincecum's case when Webb fell off the cliff the last month of the season

I get the feeling he won't be contending this season.
