the 1986 season was a classic in jet history - looking like world beaters the 1st 11 games going 10-1 while the injury list kept growing until it reached a point of no return. losing the last 5 games and limping into the post season only to provide another NFL classic against the browns in the divisional round.

well folks - i was prepared to rip the jets a new one today and boldly predict they wouldn't win another game after losing to the bills - finishing 8-8 after teasing us with visions of a home AFC championship game. this would surely rank up there with the more memorable december collapses in team history.

and lo and behold a freakin miracle given to us by the same football gods that have been cursing us for 40 years.....

forget the new asshole, forget bitching about favre, about the swiss cheese defense, about the WR's, about the OC/DC.....forget all that stuff.

the jets finally won a game that is usually reserved for teams like the packers, bears, giants, pats, broncos, steelers, colts, and other credible teams - benefitting from an opponents debacle.

hey the jets are usually the givers and not the takers. what happened???

well we got a major break and they can ride this thing into january and hope for the same.
this SHOULD provide a springboard to a convincing win in seattle and a tough but workman like win against the fish for the east title.

all of us should expect nothing less.

but of course if we limp around in seattle and blow either of these next 2 games, or both, than we are back to square one and likely need to start over with a new QB and coaching staff.

Excellent post! I am shocked by the amount of negativity on these boards. The fact that the football gods smiled upon us finally is reason enough for this forum to be in celebratory mode. The Jets have a history filled with losing games like this, not much if any history winning those kind of games.

We haven't had any serious injuries, knock wood, like the rash of them we had in 1986. That was a huge part of that free-fall and we were still 2:00 from the AFC Championship Game in the end
