Never did a mock draft before, it's worth a try. Jets at worst will be 8-8 which will peg them at the 16th spot in the draft. A few things to consider...

    - Antonio Allen becomes the starting SS for the Jets going forward
    - Stephen Hill while we believe can be a good WR someday, he needs competition.
    - Sanchez / Holmes / Calvin Pace do not return.

    1 - Ryan Shazier - Linebacker

Do it all linebacker, can play the run, rush the passer, go from sideline to sideline. Excellent leadership qualities. He can do it all on the field. We need more players that can do multiple things on the football field, not just rush the passer.

    2 - Jordan Matthews - WR

Polished route runner, excellent hands, plays big in big moments. We need WRs that can run those intermediate routes. I like the man's body of work - I believe his disciplined play will be big in the NFL. He falls to the 2nd because he doesn't have elite athleticism.

3 (Bucs) - Ed Reynolds, FS

Jets sorely need a FS, and I believe this is the guy the Jets should take with the 3rd rounder. Dawan Landry is not the long-term answer, Reynolds is a decent guy who not only plays the FS role, is an EXCELLENT communicator and gets the defense on the same page.

    3 - Brandon Coleman - WR

Talented Rutgers WR that doesn't get much love due to the QB issue at Rutgers. Reminds me of Colston from the Saints. Red-zone threat.

    4 - C.J. Fiedorowicz - TE

This guy appears to be on a lot of peoples' radar and I agree 100% - he's the best blocking TE IMO in the draft. He is somewhat raw on the receiving end, but he will continue to get better.

    5 - Malcolm Bunche - OT/G

Versatile offensive lineman. Can play tackle or guard. Can never have enough depth, and plays the role of Rob Turner a once versatile G / T for the Jets.

    6 - Prince Shembo, OLB

Well coached Notre Dame defense is led by their potential All-American nose tackle, but Shembo is no slouch - I think he falls to the 6th due to his lack of strength and pass-rushing moves, but the man defintely has a motor that never stops. He can improve and become a better player. His stock may increase as the season progresses.

    7 - Colt Lyerla - TE

I know, he's kicked off the team, but the kid is talented as hell and I would rather take a chance in the 7th and draft him then take a chance with him as a UDFA. If he can keep his head on straight and improve, he can be a steal.

Shazier is an interesting pick. With Coples as a pretty much permanent rush LB, we could use a jack-of-all-trades type of LB, but I'd still prefer Van Noy. Shazier is more of a 4-3 OLB.

Matthews is a good pick, but there is no way in hell Coleman lasts until the third. I'd take him in the second over Matthews.

I like the Ed Reynolds pick.

I love the CJ+Lyerla combo. A great blocking TE and a great H-Back prospect is a way to shore that position for years.

    Good mock.

The reason I chose Shazier, is because the Jets don't run a true 3-4 defense. They run so many types of defenses that Rex could theoretically throw Shazier inside or out and make it work. My first rounder, prob is questionable and there's a lot of chance in it - I wanted to consider all of the factors.

Shazier reminds me a heat-seeking missle, Shazier being virtually unblocked due to the defensive line is an absolute nightmare. He can contribute against slot corners as well as TEs. This man has RANGE, and could one day replace David Harris as a 3-4 ILB too. I wanted to continue the versality trend.

I absolutely like Van Noy, but everyone is choosing him in the mock drafts so I wanted to go elsewhere lol - but Van Noy was my 2nd choice - people are saying he's a better player then Ansah. Also, I am starting to have the feeling that Van Noy might not be there. He's really good.

Coleman has disappeared statistically and I believe his stock is dropping just like Marquis Lee. Top of the 3rd round, Coleman could be there. He's one hell of a talent, but the production isn't there. Coleman or Matthews (or Allen from PSU) - tough choices, but I would love to try and grab two of those guys. Coleman I think could have more upside, but Matthews is more of a safe pick.

Thanks! Hopefully I'll continue to get better with mock drafts.

My favorite mock so far aside from the first round pick better options as OLB but loved the safety( will he last till the third?) and the weapons :p

Shembo would be great. Like all the picks except for Lyerla. He comes off as a problem child to me.

Great mock though. Arguably the best one on here.
