I listened to the interview and the question the reporter asked was specifically asking whether Stuckey could have done something better on that play. I think he gave an honest answer. I suppose he could have placed some blame on Brett for making a bad pass and Schotty for making a bad play call too, but what's the point of throwing 2 more names out there? I don't see anything wrong with his answer.
Bad call. Bad execution. Bad decision to throw it there in the last place. Favre needs to put a dead turkey in his own locker.
You just contradicted yourself then............by not placing blame on Favre for a bad decision throw & not placing blame on Schotty for a bad play call,....well then, he didnt give an honest answer, did he? If there's no point in throwing 2 more names out there, why did he throw Stuckey's name out at all & justify the reporter's question?
I don't think I did contradict myself. The reporter specifically asked about Stuckey. He honestly answered what Stuckey could have done better. It's not dishonest to leave out other people that are to blame, is it? The reporter specifically wanted to know about Stuckey. If the reporter specifically asked about Favre, he may have just said yeah he shouldn't have thrown that ball because the receiver was covered and left it at that. No way to know for sure.
My opinion is that Mangini has a noticeable habit of throwing the "minor" players under the bus a little too often for what I expect of a head coach. what I mean by minor is rookies, young players & minor position players. He all but squarely blamed the punter Ben Graham for a loss earlier this year. I remember him blaming Drew Coleman for the Chicago loss when he was a rookie for falling down. Its my opinion that he is developing a very bad habit for calling out these minor players during losses & giving the higher profile guys a complete pass.
Favre is throwing a lot of picks, no doubt. But how many of them are coming off his back foot because he is getting no protection at all? Where is this great line we are supposed to have?
Agreed. Stucky worked his ass off to come back from an injury and has had a great attitude and work ethic in what is basically his rookie season. ANd he is being called out in public on a call and play that was not really his fault. How can someone watch this play and say, "Oh thats Stucky's fault". Bad coaching all around.
Stuckey and Favre were in tough positions because of the playcall. Stuckey even admitted that. Favre might've lost 3 points by not throwing it away, Stuckey gave up 7 by not tackling the guy, but if Shotty knew how to call a damn play right we could've ended up scoring and not giving up any points.
You don't have to line up in Jumbo. A traditional 2 back set make the D play honest. You also get a different D package instead of Nickel or dime. Dustin Keller shoudl be a mismatch a long with Coles and Cotch. It is bad playcalling and philosophy.
Since the fade stop worked this week, we're just going to keep trying it, and it will probably get picked against the Bills. I sure hope not, but the way Schotty works...
Did I just read that Stuckey said the Jets ran that play on 3rd a few times in the first half? Shouldn't we have enough plays that when you face, say, 4 or 5 3rd downs in a half, you can run a different play each time? Have you noticed that unlike teams like the Colts and Patriots, we don't have any pass plays you're pretty much guaranteed to see every game? I actually think Schottenheimer tries to use like 10 to 20 new plays every game, instead of going with what works. No wonder our O-line is allowing so much pressure, there's no familiarity, no rhythm.....trying to learn new stuff while accounting for another team's blitzes and rush packages, while trying to guess at what new stuff they will throw at you is hard to do in 5 days. This team is wasting the season, and it is because of the dumbass, hard-headed decisions being made by the guys in charge.
Um...what? All that happened was the Coles ran a straight route to the end zone, but was being well played. That throw wasn't fuckin...designed. That throw was the result of an aggressive play call and our QB doing what he knows how to do.
You know this is EXACTLY what I posted to a "me-too Favre sucks" thread here on Sunday and Monday morning, that the third INT was on Stuckey as much as Favre, and people just mercilessly BASHED me, saying I was either blind or knew nothing about football. Huh.
